Hi Becca and Doug , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Becca Roses, and together with my husband Douglas, we launched Della Coffee in the vibrant Montrose neighborhood of Houston seven months ago, in April 2024. Our journey into the world of coffee is intertwined with personal passions and professional expertise, which have shaped the unique character of our coffee shop.

I’m a Houston native, shaped by this city’s rich cultural tapestry and diverse culinary landscape. My academic and early career foundations were laid at the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, where I majored in Hotel and Restaurant Management. My personal path through health challenges led me to also embrace wellness, becoming an Epigenetics coach. This blend of hospitality and wellness is what lights my heart on fire.

Douglas is from Portland, Oregon, a city known for its pioneering coffee scene. He has spent his career in the restaurant business, focusing on launching new establishments and overseeing multi-unit operations. His deep understanding of business dynamics and operational excellence has been crucial in creating the backbone of our coffee shop’s operations. He’s passionate about growth and development as well as creating lasting connections through food and beverage.

At Della Coffee Company, we specialize in high-quality, specialty coffee. Our focus is on creating a memorable coffee experience by sourcing the best beans, using the right brewing techniques, and continuously innovating our offerings. We also provide a selection of craft coffee, house made sourdough pastries, and a full breakfast and lunch menu.

We not only serve coffee; we aim to create a hub where community and culture converge. Our support for local suppliers and our sustainable practices are at the heart of our operations, ensuring we give back to both our environment and our community.

We are most proud of how Della Coffee has become a part of the daily lives of so many in Montrose, a testament to the community itself and what we offer here at Della. We’re proud to have created a space where people can come together over a cup of coffee and bomb food for an everyday part of their routine and/or special occasions/gatherings.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In our journey with Della Coffee Company, like any small business, we’ve faced our share of obstacles and challenges. Opening a coffee shop in the competitive Houston market, particularly in a well-loved area like Montrose, presented initial hurdles. From navigating the complexities of local regulations and permits to building a brand in a community with established favorites, each challenge required us to adapt and innovate.

Perhaps the most persistent challenge has been ensuring that we maintain the high standards we set for ourselves under the pressures of daily operations. Whether it’s the consistency of our coffee or the quality of customer service, we strive to meet our community’s expectations without compromise.

Through it all, our action-oriented approach has kept us moving forward. We tackle each obstacle head-on, learning and growing from each experience. These challenges have not only strengthened our business acumen but have also deepened our connection to the community we serve. Each difficulty has been a stepping stone, pushing us to refine our vision and improve our service.

Della Coffee Company is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a community hub located in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. My husband Doug and I founded Della with a vision to create a space that mirrors our passions for coffee, community, and connection.

We specialize in high-quality, specialty coffee. Our menu features a variety of traditional and innovative beverages, with a focus on scratch made components and high quality ingredients such a Mill-King Milk. We also offer a selection of homemade sourdough pastries, breakfast, and lunch items made to order. Our coffee is roasted locally by TenFold and New Heights. We source ingredients very thoughtfully. Using real ingredients and no seed oils. Instead we use Texas Olive oil, avocado oil, and grass fed butter.

What really sets us apart is our commitment to the community. Della is a place where everyone—parents, artists, and local residents—can feel welcomed and valued. We strive to create genuine connections with everyone who walks through our doors. This dedication extends beyond just knowing our customers’ names and orders; we actively participate in community events and support local artists by providing a platform to showcase their work.

We are proud of how we’ve woven our personal values into every aspect of Della Coffee Company. Our brand is built on the foundation of support, quality, and community engagement.
