Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Watts. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Brian grew up in North Texas playing soccer and golf along with many other sports. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a degree in Athletic Training in 2007. He continued his education at the University of Mississippi, graduating with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2010. Brian is certified in integrated dry-needling (CIDN), performs manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. He worked at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedics for 3.5 years until he decided to return to his home state of Texas. Brian, his wife Allison and their three children moved to College Station in 2014 where he joined the physical therapy staff at Central Texas Sports Medicine. At the beginning of 2018, Brian started College Station Physical Therapy and Performance.
Brian is active in the soccer, running and Crossfit communities and is also a board member of the BCS Triathlon Club. With his athletic background and love of sports, Brian’s goal is to help people return to an active lifestyle at the highest level possible. He is bridging the gap between recovery from injury to returning to sport. Brian wants people to know that they do not have to live with lingering pain that is preventing them from doing the things that they love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always obstacles when starting your own business. However we have been able to limit the number of obstacles by working with physical therapy business coaches that have already done what we are trying to accomplish. So they help us limit our mistakes and to grow more efficiently. One of the struggles is hiring/growing the CSPT staff. However, it is impossible to grow this type of business with just two people. So hiring the right staff has been a key to our growth this past 2 years.
Another struggle is wanting to help as many people as possible but unable to do it alone. So being able to hire and have more people to help our community has been very fulfilling.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
CSPT helps active people in the Brazos valley recover from injuries, return to an active lifestyle and reach their highest level of performance. Our primary niche is runners/endurance athletes and CrossFit athletes. However, we are able to help many active people/athletes because of our style of treatment. We were passionate about creating a higher level of care and a higher quality experience for patients than anything else available. We are changing the field of physical therapy by creating a place that can bridge the gap of recovery from injury to return to sport. We are one-on-one with all of our clients and they spend the entire treatment with a doctor of physical therapy.
This gives great results to someone who is trying to stay active and doesn’t really have time to be injured. We are efficient with our time and deliver exceptional results over and over again. We are most proud of the patient experience that we provide which is unparalleled in the Bryan/College Station communities. Everyone is considered a VIP and gets customized programming and treatment every time they come to see us. We want people to know that they don’t have to live with pain or let pain or injury keep them from doing what they love.
We help runners, triathletes, CrossFit athletes, professional athletes, adult recreational sport athletes and youth athletes stay in the game for life. Don’t wait for a minor ache/pain to become an injury. Let our doctors of physical therapy take care of it before it becomes an injury and keeps you from doing what you love.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
It has to be playing a sport. I loved playing street hockey and basketball in the driveway and playing golf and soccer. I got to play a lot of tournament golf in the summers. That was probably my favorite memory.
