Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Jordan.
Bridgette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I remember At the age of nine taking interest in the home. Being raised in the country, on a farm in a single-father home with my sister, I took pride in making sure the house was clean and well organized. My dad always taught us to appreciate & take care of what we had.. and it always stuck with me.
My obsession for clean quickly morphed into a desire to rearrange furniture and create new pieces. My dad had always expressed interest in building his own home, so he would receive floor plans from a local builder. I use to study the plans and imagine what the home would look like in my mind. I spent countless hours daydreaming of unique floor plans and one day, decided to try my hand at creating one.
At the age of twelve, with my ruler, a pencil and college rule notebook paper, I closed my eyes, imagined walking up to the door of my dream home and what it would look like inside.
Full of excitement, I opened my eyes and began drawing lines and doors and windows. While other children were out making mud pies (one of our favorite past times), I was busy planning my dream home. Fast forward to my Junior year of high school, I decided that I wanted to be an architect. Eventually, I got started in school but becoming a mom quickly slapped me into reality.
Although I did not realize my dream of architecture, my love for all things Home never left me.
Every place that I lived, I transformed in some kind of way. I taught myself the skill of painting, hanging lights, removing walls, plumbing and so much more. When I bought my first home Is when people really started to notice.
I took a home that was “okay” and put my stamp on it! When I decided that there was nothing else I could do to upgrade my home, I sold it and profited over 100k (before inflation happened) and just like that, my first flip was born.
I’ve since worked with many homeowners to transform their homes as well as Realtors, Staging properties for quick sale and began my own property investment portfolio.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a minority female in business is probably the biggest obstacle, mainly because we have to prove so much more.
In my line of work where people are entrusting you with thousands of dollars to give advice and make the right design choices for their home that will carry them the next 3-5 years and beyond, they want to see greatness ( and who would blame them)? So in order to build my portfolio, I would paint 3-5 rooms for $350. I was so warn down because the more I did, the more clients wanted.
I was detailed, I was fast and I was cheap & word spread. After about 5 or 6 jobs, I decided that I had built a portfolio worthy of starting a brand and knowing my worth was one of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn.
We’ve been impressed with B Nvied Homes and Design Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
