Inspiring Conversations with Chad Welty of Newmans Castle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Welty.

Hi Chad, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, first this is a family project my uncle started in the late 1990’s. My mom is his sister, and I was raised in Indiana. After graduating college and taking various jobs in multiple states usually some flavor of engineering, my uncle passed, and I was next to run his custom-built castle. My wife and I were residing in Utah, so I moved down first to assess everything. We were fortunate to know his plans, so we got to discuss what we wanted to do before we were in this position of to run this castle or not. After coming down, it was pretty clear after about 6 months this was something we could get back on the rails and enjoy doing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Talking over was an adventure in itself. There were many problems we had to deal with and get fixed at the start. Mostly maintenance related. 20 acres and custom-built castle don’t exactly get fixed easily. Not much of anything I can go to the hardware store and just buy, most is crafted. Still learning to weld so some of those projects get help or put on hold. The humidity down here too is also brutal. After living in high desert climate for about 12 years, the first summer was eye opening about times to work and times to stay inside.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Newmans Castle?
Well, the castle is definitely a labor of love. We are open 6 days of week to visit. Also, we host overnight stays, parties, movie production, weddings, fencing tournaments, Hobbit Gatherings, and really anything (mostly kid friendly) that people are interested in. For visiting during our public hours, photoshoots, or room overnights book on www.newmanscastle.com as well as booking for photoshoots. Anything else, give us a call at 9794876753 to discuss your ideas. We love creativity so are happy to see music videos, fire breathers, ballot dancers, or anyone doing their craft. We might have one of the most unique castles in the USA or at least top 5. Branding is still in work in progress since we took over in mid 2024, “Let Your Imagination Rule” is our tag line which fits in well with the things we like to see out here. We do more than just public visits and for those public visits, we have limited hours because of the other events/photos/etc we host.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My Uncle Mike because he pretty much built this entire thing up over an 18-year window plus opened it up for people to be able to enjoy, My wife Amanda too as if she had no interest in uprooting our lives, we would still be in Utah.
