Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Liles.
Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
When I stumbled across our company 3 years ago, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. It was a 20-person firm, male-led, and wow, do they take their core values seriously. I had a background in construction and tax consulting and didn’t see how a career in headhunting made sense.
They talked to me about their vision, future-focused plan, and how if I put in the work, I could manage a division or even make Vice President in 3 to 5 years. Needless to say, I took the job.
One month in, Covid hit… I was told to work from home and assist another division (the legal division).
I remember countless calls with my father discussing how I would surely be the first on the chopping block. We discussed work ethic, being grateful to simply have a job, and having the grit and integrity to do whatever you can to keep your job and the company alive in an unpredictable market. On top of it, I was the first to get covid in the office. For sure – I’m toast.
I did all I could to hit my KPIs, keep my head down, get the job done, and gather market insight from the countless attorneys I was calling, and then boom! I got my first offer! Sadly, it was turned down.
Rather than wallowing, I trusted the process, strived to meet our core values, and focused on building my pipeline.
-I made three legal placements in 2020.
-In 2021, I had 28 placements, was the top biller at our company, and began leading the legal division.
-In 2022, I had 37 placements, was named Vice President, became the first female on the executive team, and have an amazing team around me.
-In 2023, I was awarded the 1 spot for top Individual Direct Hire Professional & Technical Recruiter in the state of Texas by the Texas Search, Recruiting, and Staffing Association
This is just the beginning.
Be grateful, be humble, take chances, and step up wherever and whenever you can. I’m so thankful for each and every opportunity I have been given at Encore.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had a background in construction and tax consulting and didn’t see how a career in headhunting made sense. I had to learn the ropes and make it through the early stages of covid.
