I’ve been in the polyurea industry for over 11 years and have always been fascinated by the versatility of the chemical. From bed liners to concrete, secondary containments to infrastructure – there’s an application for that. I felt like I could bring something different to the industry as a B2B business. We are driven by customer service and tech support while being grounded by our roots as consumers and applicators. Our goal at Shield is to showcase all of the applications of this product and help consumers discover how beneficial it can be in real-world applications for a multitude of industries.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a business is never a smooth road. It takes lots of sacrifices. You never clock out. Many nights and weekends are spent working because the success of this business relies solely on you.
We’ve been impressed with Shield Industrial Coatings, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a USA-made polyurea chemical and equipment supplier based in Spring, TX. Our company Shield Industrial Coatings focuses on industrial applications such as secondary containments, concrete, infrastructure, marine, etc. Shield Liners is our automotive side that focuses on bed liner applications. We are B2B, so we supply businesses with chemical, equipment, parts, booth and mobile buildouts, and hands-on training to help them have a successful polyurea business. Shield was built on blue-collar work ethic and dedication to our customers, which sets us apart from competitors. We are proud to have no franchise fees and to offer 24/7 tech support. When you call our office, you’re speaking to the owner. There are no bots, waitlist or downtime.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have 2 business partners that have helped bring Shield to life and without their support, this would still be an idea we casually talked about over some drinks in their driveway.
My wife, Jessica, because she keeps me on task, do all of our social media, and never hesitates to work late night/weekend with me.
