Inspiring Conversations with Deisy Vasquez of Music And Art Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deisy Vasquez

Hi Deisy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has always been a big part of my life. I started my musical journey back in 2002 and went on to earn a degree in music, majoring in piano. Along the way, I also got a degree in Business Administration, which turned out to be incredibly useful when I ventured into the world of music education.

After moving to the U.S. with my husband and son in 2015, I started teaching piano just a year later. Honestly, I never imagined that one student would turn into two full academies! Today, we have over 250 students, a team of 15 amazing teachers, and we’ve even opened a violin rental and sales shop.

It’s been an incredible journey, and I feel so lucky to do what I love every day—sharing the gift of music with others.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every business faces challenges, and for me, one of the toughest moments was the early months of the pandemic in 2020. We had just signed the lease for our first physical location, and a week later, we were forced to shut down. We lost half of our students, and it felt like we had to start from scratch just to keep the business afloat.

But every challenge brings valuable lessons. That experience taught me resilience and the importance of not giving up, no matter how difficult things get. It was a tough time, but it made us stronger in the long run.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Music And Art Academy?
Music and Art Academy is a vibrant space where we teach a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, violin, drums, cello, and bass, along with offering voice lessons. We also provide painting and drawing classes, making it the perfect one-stop school for families seeking both music and art education.

As the director, I personally teach piano, violin, and drums. Recently, we expanded by opening a violin store with our own brand, offering rentals and sales to our students as well as students from nearby school districts. Our facilities are comfortable and welcoming, creating an enjoyable environment where families can immerse themselves in music and the arts. It’s a place where education and creativity come together in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

What are your plans for the future?
Of course, right now I am working on expanding my violin store to more instruments so that my students can have the option of finding what they need to begin their musical and artistic journey, in one place, it is also very likely to open a third location in the near future.
