Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Watson.
Derek, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started Derek Product back in 2017. The original idea was for my wife and I to create supplemental income. We started with making and selling soaps to family and friends via our e-commerce store, which was created and designed by myself. (No website design experience). From there. we may be sold about 5- 10 bars of soap per month to just a few people. That went on for about 2 years, consistently generating about $100 per month. Towards the middle of 2019, I decided to start adding some other products to the website to generate some more interest, basically items that we used around the house, so if they don’t sell, then at least we could use them ourselves. lol. Around that time, a family member was severely sick, so in an effort to try to help, I began ordering lots of herbs and seaweed, leaving me with more than what we needed for our family member’s recovery. From there I decided to just add the excess products to my website. Those products that we added turned out to be one of the smartest moves we made because right after, there was a huge increase in demand for those exact products, putting us at the top of the supply chain. We had 100’s of pounds of herbs and seaweed, and market began gobbling it up all from just word of mouth. From there, we continued to just reinvest profits into the business and build a customer base, and also help jump-start many other small wellness companies by supplying them with products for resale. 50,000 customers later, we are still growing and expanding our brand and services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle is being able to recalibrate after reaching your goals. Surviving the ups and downs mentally through all the shifts in the market.

What makes you happy?
Life makes me happy. Because my life encompasses my family and work. In order to be at the top of my game, I have to meditate, pray, and focus on developing spiritually, mentally, and physically, which is all motivated by my family and work, which ultimately equates to happiness. Happiness is a choice we all have, and through proper intent, that choice can made daily unconsciously daily.
