Inspiring Conversations with Derrell Harrison of Eyetopia Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derrell Harrison.

Hi Derrell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with creativity. I’ve always loved storytelling creating moods, building different worlds, and bringing the ideas in my mind to life. That passion eventually grew into helping businesses tell their stories through branding and visual content that connects with people and drives results.

Over the years, I’ve built experience across media, restaurants, food trucks, and logistics, which has given me a unique perspective on business and branding. Today, my focus is helping brands stand out by creating content that doesn’t just look great, it creates real impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been staying authentic and not compromising my craft, even when it would’ve been easier to follow trends or do what everyone else was doing. I’ve also had to learn not to let other people’s opinions define me and to be okay with not always receiving support from the people I expected would be in my corner. Those experiences have made me more confident in my vision and reminded me to keep creating for the right reasons.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Eyetopia Media ?

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Houston is the opportunity it offers and the incredible mix of cultures that make the city unique. It’s a place where entrepreneurs can build something meaningful, and that diversity inspires me creatively.

If I could change one thing, it would be the lack of great late-night food options. That’s actually one of the reasons I invested in Birds & Buns and Goodies Soul Kitchen. We want to help fill that gap by providing quality food and creating places where people can gather, no matter the time of day.
