Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Regina Rodman.
Hi Dr. Rodman, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The process has been a long and difficult one, and I am very proud of where I am today. I started out practicing with a group. I was there for my first two years of practice. This was not the right fit for me, so I also tried working with a different office. The second office was a worse fit, and so in 2019 I decided to open my own practice. I opened Face Forward Houston in November of 2019. Almost three years later, business is busier than ever!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth. When we graduate from residency, we have extensive training in medicine and surgical procedures. We have spent over 10,000 hours in surgical training and have a huge knowledge base. We graduate and now have to run a business. It’s another huge learning curve. There is so much to learn about accounting, marketing, technology, human resources, hiring, interior design, and time management in addition to medicine. It was and still is a learning process.
One of the things I am most proud of is that I am now asked to speak all over the country. I speak about running a business as a young woman, facial feminization surgery and new technology. It has been an honor and a pleasure to share my experiences with other doctors. If I can make the path a little easier for someone else than all my struggles have been worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Face Forward Houston?
Face Forward Houston is a facial plastic surgery office. Dr. Rodman is known for doing procedures that are not commonly performed by other surgeons. She is a face specialist and has additional training in craniofacial surgery, making her an expert on bony cosmetic work. She performs procedures such as chin and jaw reduction, hairline lowering, lip lift, and brow bossing reduction, and jaw implants which are not common procedures for most plastic surgeons. She also has a large focus on facial feminization. Facial Feminization Surgery, or FFS, is a combination of facial surgeries that work together to create a softer, more feminine appearance. These surgeries are often done in transgender women but can also be done for cisgender men or women who have a facial feature that they would like to change.
In addition to the extensive procedures above, Face Forward also many small non-invasive procedures. We have something for everyone! Face Forward offers Botox/Dysport, fillers, chemical peels, skin tightening with Renuvion, microneedling and medical-grade skincare.
Our most recent additions have worked to incorporate total wellness. We now also offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV drips, vitamin shots, as well as nutrition evaluation.
Dr. Rodman is most proud of the wide patient variety of patients that have traveled to our office. Because she is one of the few surgeons to offer bony cosmetic work, patients travel from all over the US and all over the world to see her! Dr. Rodman is internationally recognized and is asked to speak all over the world. In addition to her frequent speaking engagements, she has authored dozens of academic papers and just finished editing a book!
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We pride ourselves most on our ability to truly listen to patients and work with them to meet their goals. We like to spend time educating patients and giving information so they can choose the option that will benefit them the most. The staff are helpful but not pushy. Our mission is to help people, not sell as many services as possible. We are most happy when patients leave feeling like “their outside matches their inside.” This may mean looking more like the gender they identify with or looking at the age they feel inside.
