Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tonie Reincke.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Highly unconventional. That is how I’d describe my journey to starting Reincke Vein Center.
As the first person to go to university, my mother did not graduate from high school, I took small steps and paid my way through. I worked two jobs during university and graduated from nursing school. After working for 6 years in the SICU (surgical ICU), I went back to university and became a Physician Assistant. Ultimately, I went to medical school, residency, and fellowship.
For the last 9 years, I have worked as an employee treating vein disease. I always knew I wanted to own my solo practice. I have an entrepreneurial mindset and I think “outside the box” regarding the best way to comprehensively treat patients.
I have meticulously developed my technical skills, leadership attributes, and business and marketing strategies. Far exceeding any of these, I recognized how paramount excellent patient care/the patient experience is.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Bumpy, thorny, and difficult to describe the road traveled to get to the point of opening my solo practice. I have had nay-sayers tell me I’d never graduate high school, been the target of sexual harassment and gender bias, and critically viewed from both an academic and socioeconomic point of view.
As you know, we’re big fans of Reincke Vein Center. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the sole owner of my practice and perform all evaluations and procedures myself from start to finish. I am an Interventional Radiologist that specializes in evaluating and treating vein disease. I take the time to educate patients and empower them to understand their disease and how best to manage it.
Everything is done in my office, there is no downtime, and most procedures are covered by insurance. My office will help patients navigate through if they owe any expenses based on insurance requirements per their plan.
Unique to my center versus many others, I see every patient every visit and all of my patients have my personal cell number for any questions that may arise.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If possible, seek out a mentor and take a deep dive into pros and cons of owning a small business. I wish I had taken the leap years ago.
