Inspiring Conversations with Elizabeth Guerra of Altura Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Guerra.

Hi Elizabeth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into entrepreneurship was not traditional, but it was rooted in values that gave me direction. I grew up watching hard work, resilience and determination in action. Those examples built the work ethic, growth mindset and purpose that guide me today as I build something meaningful for my family and the generations to come.

The values that shaped me came from the example my grandparents and parents set long before I understood their impact. My maternal grandfather immigrated from Mexico and, through discipline and determination, worked his way from not knowing the language to earning a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas–Pan American. My grandmother built a long career with General Motors and showed me the strength and stability that comes from consistency.

My paternal grandparents carried that same drive. They worked tirelessly, started businesses, invested in real estate and created opportunities through their hard work and vision. Their dedication built a legacy that continues to benefit their children, their grandchildren and the generations that will come after us.

Their stories taught me the value of perseverance, integrity and sacrifice. My parents carried those values forward in how they raised me, and those lessons shaped the woman I would eventually become.

I did not grow up knowing I would become an entrepreneur, but I always knew I wanted to help people. I saw how many families, especially minorities and women, had the drive to persevere but not always the resources or clarity needed to reach financial stability or homeownership.

That calling led me into credit consulting, then real estate and eventually tax preparation. Over time, I realized an important truth. Our communities do not lack motivation. They simply need guidance, access and someone who is willing to bridge the gap.

I wanted to be that bridge. Someone who could simplify credit, empower families, advocate for them and help them build a foundation strong enough to change the direction of their future.

The path that brought me here was not linear. It included setbacks, new beginnings and moments that required deeper faith. I learned through disciplined studying and a determination to keep moving forward for my children. I’ve had mentors in both credit and real estate who poured into me at times when I needed it most. Valerie Garza my broker and long time friend was one of those voices, reminding me that I was capable even on days I doubted myself. Rebuilding and resilience shaped me, and every client reminded me why this work matters.

Altura Collective is the result of years of growth, experience and a genuine desire to help families build stronger financial futures. It serves as a trusted resource and a steady stepping stone for individuals who need guidance, clarity and someone who will walk beside them as they pursue homeownership, investing or financial freedom.

Altura Collective has become more than a business. It represents a commitment to growth, a heart for service and a desire to honor the sacrifices and values of the generations who came before me.

If my story proves anything, it is this. No matter where you begin, you are capable of rising, and I am committed to helping people do exactly that.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many challenges along the way. I had to rebuild more than once, learn entire industries from scratch and push through moments that felt overwhelming. There were nights when I was studying after putting my kids to bed, days when I doubted myself and seasons when faith was the only thing I had to lean on. I have faced financial pressure, business setbacks and the weight of growing personally and professionally at the same time. Those challenges never stopped me. Instead, they became the training ground that taught me resilience, discipline and compassion. They also gave me a deeper understanding of the families I serve, because I know what it feels like to fight for stability and a better future.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Altura Collective?
Altura Collective is a service-based company dedicated to helping individuals and families strengthen their financial foundation and move toward homeownership, stability and long-term growth. Through credit consulting, financial education, real estate guidance and tax preparation support, clients receive the clarity, tools and strategy they need to move forward with confidence.

I am both a financial consultant and a licensed real estate agent, which allows me to support clients through the entire journey. Many people come in feeling overwhelmed by credit issues or confused about the steps toward buying a home. At Altura, they find guidance that is patient, straightforward and rooted in real solutions. The goal is to simplify the process, advocate for them and help them take steps that truly move their life forward.

What sets Altura Collective apart is the heart behind the work. This business was built for people who often feel overlooked or unsure of where to start, especially minorities, women and first-generation families. The approach is personal and educational because the mission is not just to repair credit or close a transaction. The mission is to empower people, build financial stability and open doors to opportunities that can change the direction of their future.

What I am most proud of is the impact. Watching someone raise their credit score, qualify for a loan, close on their first home or simply feel hopeful again is the greatest reward. Altura was created to be a stepping stone, and it has become a place where people feel supported, informed and equipped to rise.

I want readers to know that Altura Collective is more than a business. It is a commitment to lifting others, expanding access and helping families build the kind of financial and generational stability they can pass down for years to come.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Faith, mindset and personal development play a huge role in both my life and my business, so the resources I lean on reflect that. Spiritually, I love sermons and messages by pastors like Sarah Jakes Roberts, Michael Todd and Steven Furtick. Their teachings remind me to stay grounded in purpose, trust God’s timing and move with confidence even when the path doesn’t feel clear. My faith is the reason I’ve been able to keep going through seasons of rebuilding, and those messages pour into me when I need it most.

For personal growth, Mel Robbins’ “Let Them Theory” has helped me release control, protect my peace and stay focused on what truly matters. Books like “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent,” “The One Thing” and “The Psychology of Money” have shaped the way I approach business, wealth-building, homeownership education and the systems I use in real estate and credit consulting.

I also enjoy podcasts that mix mindset, business strategy and spiritual encouragement because they help me stay aligned with my goals while keeping my faith at the center. And for daily productivity, apps like Notion, Google Calendar and MLS/IDX real estate tools help me stay organized and serve my clients with clarity.

Everything I listen to or read reminds me of the same thing: stay rooted in faith, stay committed to growth and serve people with intention.
