Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Erin Dresner of Bloom Integrative Veterinary Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Erin Dresner. She shared her story with us below:

Bloom Integrative Veterinary Care was founded in 2022 by veterinarian Dr. Erin Dresner – one of less than 80 board-certified feline specialists in the world. Perpetually frustrated by the limited options for managing chronic feline pain, she became certified in veterinary medical acupuncture. Observing her patients’ success with acupuncture and other natural therapies encouraged her to seek more training in this area.

At the onset of the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020, it became clear to Dr. Erin that leaving clinical practice to care for her young son full-time was the right decision for her family. However, being the only feline specialist to offer acupuncture in the surrounding area led to quite a loyal following of clients over the years.

These clients, unfortunately, noted the return of their cats’ symptoms in the absence of regular treatments with Dr. Erin. Cat lovers can be quite tenacious when it comes to their feline friends! They ultimately found Dr. Erin and convinced her to care for their cats once again.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most of this journey has been smooth. I think that is the beauty of following your calling, your natural path. Many of the stressors that lead to burnout disappear when you create a business from your heart.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bloom Integrative Veterinary Care delivers natural therapies to pets in the comfort of their home. We offer a truly individualized and comprehensive approach that addresses your whole pet from nose to tail while identifying and resolving the root causes of disease and pain. This method first considers non-invasive and natural therapies that are seamlessly woven with only the highest quality conventional medicine when necessary.

We provide this gentle care all within the comfort of your home, without the rush of strict appointment time limits or the stress of a trip to the clinic. Our philosophy is simple: serve our beloved patients with the level of care we expect and advocate for our pets and families: evidence-based, naturally-minded, and rooted in common sense.

Bloom patients enjoy measurable treatment outcomes, like improved comfort and mobility, reduced need for expensive and painful surgery, decreased pharmaceutical dependency and adverse effects and mitigated progression of chronic disease.

Unlike others, we do not charge extra fees for individual therapies or the amount of time we spend with your pet! Our integrative veterinary care covers travel to your home, a comprehensive examination, consultation, and any recommended therapies. Bloom is pleased to serve patients in The Woodlands, Magnolia, Tomball, Montgomery, and beyond.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of the risks I took in building Bloom was starting the practice while at the end of my pregnancy with our daughter. It may not have been ideal as far as timing, but I wanted to offer relief to my patients as soon as possible. I honestly have the most gracious clients, not only were they understanding when I needed to take maternity leave, but they were truly thrilled for me and my family.

And finally but perhaps most of all is the risk I take in purposefully keeping my practice small and bespoke. I am a concierge service provider and therefore I must be fully available to meet my patients’ needs. I never want to rush through appointments, and I love being easily accessible to my clients. Limiting the number of new patients I accept each month may not seem like the best plan to grow a business, but I’m ok with that. My motto is “quality, not quantity”.
