Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisselle Padilla.
Hi Gisselle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Gisselle Padilla and I am the owner of Grace Glow Spa. I opened my first business at 14 years old as soon as I got kicked out of high school my freshman year. I used my anger to motivate me and I believed I could make it in life even if I didn’t graduate. I opened my first business called “Preparadas y Mas” and it took off within days and was a success. I was able to start helping my family out and I hired my sister to help me get orders out. I was always battling with my mental health due to the trauma I experienced as a child and I was so smart with the business aspect of my life but I made poor decisions. I went to jail in 2018 and I felt I had nothing to lose any more at that point. I was facing 15-99 years. I gave my life to God and never turned back to my old life. God began to guide me and humbled me quickly. I got a 9-5 job to pay for my lawyer and began my new life.
While working at my job, I started to save and invest my $500 bi-weekly checks into this new vision I had of “Grace Glow Spa”. I started the spa from my mothers house in a extra room and started to build and grow my clientele. I now have had 2 offices and currently have my office in the Willowbrook area next to Willowbrook mall. I named it Grace Glow Spa because I knew God had grace on me throughout my entire life and everyone around me would tell me during my transition into becoming a new me “your glowing now”. I combined the 2 words that were constantly being repeated to me in my life at that moment and name it Grace Glow Spa!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth. I always joke around and say “everything I do is always 10x harder for me”. Being a young business owner is a struggle in itself. I don’t get enough respect due to my age. I’ve had many people criticize and envy me for being successful. I just remind myself constantly that if they knew my life and everything I’ve been through, they most likely wouldn’t wish to be in my shoes. Also having a criminal record has been my biggest struggle with wanting to add more services to the spa. Getting any type of state licensing can be challenging and overwhelming when you’re always being investigated due to your past!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Grace Glow Spa is a non-surgical body contouring spa. We offer a variety of services but we are most known for our non-invasive body contouring treatments. We help you lose inches in a natural and non-surgical way. We also offer manicures, pedicures, facials, lash services and teeth whitening. Our non-surgical treatments help you lose inches and for women who have any loose skin and want to tighten and tone up, Grace Glow Spa is the place for you. The treatments are mostly use to target stubborn fat but they are safe and effective and it’s safer than a surgical procedure.
What’s next?
We have exciting services coming soon. We will soon be rebranding as a medspa and offer laser hair removal. We also plan to start building our own stand-alone location here in Houston and expanding to other cities in the U.S.
