

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guadalupe Sanchez.
Hi Guadalupe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our family is originally from Mexico, we migrated to the United States in 1991 and have been here ever since. My husband and I worked at a popular Houston donut shop for approximately 10 years and always dreamed of opening our own business. In 2021, the opportunity finally arose when we discovered that Chez Beignets III was being sold, and we seized it. We opened on September 13, 2021, and have been in operation since. This business is entirely family owned and operated. We treat our guests like family and put the quality of our product above anything else. We hope to expose more of the Houston and Sugar Land community to the magical combination of coffee and beignets. We decided to take it a step further and added a variety of sweet and savory beignets to our menu including our stuffed and gourmet styles. We anticipate the business to continue to grow and succeed much like our family has done in the United States. We appreciate the local support we have received thus far and hope to continue satisfying the community with delicious New Orleans style beignets for years to come!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but we are stronger for the tribulations we have been through. Raising three children as an immigrant in the United States was a monumental task. However, we worked as a family in order to achieve our dreams and paved our individual paths to success. I have also experienced a fair number of health problems along the way, but I have learned to take care of my well-being. Learning how to operate a business has also had its own set of challenges. We had no previous experience and we had to use a lot of resources to make sure we were abiding by all the necessary laws and permits. It has been a learning experience and one that we have tackled as a close-knit family.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Although we believe in the magic of good luck, we also believe in the importance of a great work ethic. We strive for perfection in each one of our beignets and hope that our guests can taste the fruits of our efforts. We use fresh ingredients whenever possible and use quality control daily. Our family was acutely aware of the standard of beignets that have been a staple in the Sugar Land community, and we continue to try and meet those standards. Therefore, while we were incredibly lucky to get this opportunity, we are actively trying our best to make sure we succeed.
