Hi Ira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2001, after relocating to the United States from India, life took an unexpected turn for me. With a background in environmental sciences and a diploma from the National Institute of Information and Technology, I envisioned a career path that would blend my academic expertise with my innate creativity. However, the responsibilities of motherhood beckoned, putting my professional aspirations on hold. As my children grew, I found myself drawn to the world of education. Volunteering at my son’s daycare ignited a passion for working with students, inspiring me to pursue a childcare certification. Armed with a newfound sense of purpose, I embarked on a journey to become a lead teacher, eager to make a difference in the lives of young learners.
Upon settling in Houston, I discovered Best in Class Education Center, a beacon of educational excellence. Meeting Mr. Hao Lam, the CEO, sparked a vision to bring this franchise to the Katy area, fulfilling my desire to support students in my community. With unwavering support from my husband Abhishek and children Anoushka and Kanishk, I took the leap into entrepreneurship, driven by my passion for education.
The journey since then has been nothing short of extraordinary. I found fulfillment in working with students, each interaction fueling my passion and purpose. The unwavering support of the community, including the families of my students, served as a pillar of strength, propelling me forward even in the face of adversity.
Tragedy struck in 2022 when I faced the unimaginable loss of my 20-year-old son. In the darkest of times, it was the outpouring of love and support from the families I served that provided a beacon of hope. I found solace in the work I loved, drawing strength from the children I had dedicated my life to nurturing.
For me, working with children became more than just a profession—it became my lifeline, my source of resilience in the face of adversity. Every day, I find comfort and purpose in shaping the minds of young learners, honoring the memory of my son through my unwavering dedication to their growth and development.
In this journey, I find a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and community. My story serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is light to be found in the pursuit of our passions and the support of those around us.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not smooth at all with having two young kids at home and husband with a traveling job. Often, I faced staff issue when I had to multitask being a mother, manager, teacher, and a grader at the same time.

Best In Class Education Center is a Franchise from Seattle. We offer Math and English enrichment classes from grade pre-k through high school. We also provide Private tutoring for all subjects, Gifted and Talented test prep, CBE test prep, SAT/ ACT test prep and college applications.
Our comprehensive enrichment program is tailored to each student in support of their own learning goals. We are comprised of operators and instructors who are passionate about making a positive, lasting impact on our students.
