Inspiring Conversations with Isaiah McCoy of Diamond Lens Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah McCoy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my journey, back home in Kansas, as just another hobby that could potentially blossom into more. At first, I didn’t think much of it because I knew that the photography market was already very saturated. I didn’t just want to be another guy with a camera and the title photographer, I wanted more! I decided that if I was going to enter into this field, I was going to make sure I stood out. I began dedicating all my time into learning and understanding every aspect of the camera and how to create powerful imagery, Lord knows it was a lot. But once I started to see the growth from where I began, I was flooded with the passion to completely make a business out it. So, I began creating my logos, getting my cards made, created my website, and even bought my own printing machine to create my own apparel. I was hooked and was beginning to be booked. I was surprised out how well I was doing and how fast my name was spreading throughout the city. But I felt that I was hitting a glass ceiling, and I wanted to experience a new level of this business. So, the decision to make the move to Houston was both intimidating and exciting. But to my surprise, not long after the move, I started circulating through the city and began gaining new clients and better opportunities. By far, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for me and my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! This journey has been a very tedious, stressful, and unpredictable road. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that every obstacle in life is to better us and to teach us if we are willing to learn from them. But there has been a lot of times where I wanted to throw in the towel and just let it all go. I struggled with trying to make time for every aspect of my business, as well as the rest of my life. At times it seemed as if I could just never get the balance right. I had to rebrand a few times, which took a lot of reinventing and restructuring. The move to Houston was its own complete massive struggle in itself. But nonetheless, I embraced it all and continue to thank God every day for the perseverance he has blessed me with to continue on my journey to be great and successful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Diamond Lens Photography is a photography business where you can be totally yourself. I don’t do the smile and say cheese bit, I push and strive for originality, creativity, and above all else, a good memorable time. I specialize in any and every type of photography, no challenge is too hard for me. In my business, my creativity is what sets me apart from the rest. There are many great photographers out there in the market but setting myself apart is the biggest goal of all. I want everyone to know that my brand is forever growing, developing, and adapting to all forms of life and culture. Diamond Lens Photography is a new guy in town, but definitely not an underdog or a business to sleep on. I have transitioned and added videography into the business, as well as incorporated my new slingshot rental business.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always open and eager to meeting and collaborating with other businesses and clients. I am never that hard to reach, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or my website. All support is highly appreciated, even if it is something as small as a referral, like, share, or just a simple conversation.
