Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Soto.
Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in title doing relocation and doc prep. After doing that for a few years, I became a business development representative turning a boutique office into one of the most profitable offices in the company. From there, I went to senior business development and was with the same company for eight years building business and marketing for two offices. Once I moved companies to BRPS Title I was able to have three outstanding escrow officers to market and work with. I recently was able to become a partner at BRPS Title and am now an owner and Chief Sales officer here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! At one point, right after Covid, when the market was at its busiest, I had all my escrow officers and team leave at once. I was the office manager, marketing rep, and escrow officer. We had about 100 files open at the time and was a complete cluster. I lost a lot of that business and had to build it back up and work to get it back. From situations like that and being a father of two, there’s never a smooth road in the title insurance business.
As you know, we’re big fans of BRPS Title. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We are leaders in the title and settlement industry with one goal in mind – to create the best experience for all parties involved in a transaction. What started in 2014 as a Title Company licensed in 33 states and handling only Relocation Transactions, BRPS Title has now transformed into a locally owned and operated Title Company focused on growing in Texas and helping our customers grow along with us. We do both residential and commercial closings for buyers, sellers, and refinances. My role, in particular, is to make sure we are out in the world of real estate, showing our faces and getting our name out there. I run most of the sales team and work hand-in-hand with realtors, lenders, insurance agents, and our escrow team.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Ask the right questions. Don’t be afraid to let people know what your end goal is. If you want to be the boss, tell people, and make them hold you accountable for it. I wish I knew that there is a difference between friendship and business. Sometimes those lines are blurred, but you need to be able to know who is who and which situation is which.
