Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Fayle.
Hi Kathryn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been drawn to helping people understand what exists beneath their pain. Many people enter therapy already knowing that something feels broken. What they often do not understand is why they feel the way they do, how their experiences have shaped them, or what healing will require.
That desire was also shaped by my own life experiences. I learned that surviving pain and fully processing it are not the same thing. Healing is deeply personal, and it cannot be reduced to generic advice or a simple list of steps. That understanding became the foundation for the kind of counselor I wanted to be.
I returned to school and earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in marriage and family therapy, followed by a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. I have continued my education throughout my career and am now completing my Doctor of Professional Counseling, with a focus on relational dynamics.
In 2022, I founded Resilient Mind Counseling and Coaching, PLLC. It began with a simple hope that I could create meaningful change in the lives of the people I served. Over time, my work became increasingly focused on trauma, betrayal, infidelity, compulsive sexual behavior, and relationships in crisis.
As I continued working with individuals and couples, I saw that insight alone was not always enough. Clients needed practical ways to recognize their emotional patterns, respond to triggers, navigate conflict, and create safety in their relationships outside of the therapy room. That realization led me to expand my work through counseling intensives, formal therapeutic disclosure, specialized assessments, relationship education, and betrayal trauma support.
Today, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, EMDR-trained therapist, and trained in Level 1 of the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy, commonly known as PACT. I also host the Resilient Minds in Relationships podcast and created Secure Without Compromise, an audio-based relationship education experience for individuals and couples.
What began as a desire to help people make sense of their pain has grown into a mission to help them create meaningful, lasting change. I want the people I work with to leave therapy with a stronger understanding of themselves, greater trust in their own voice, and the ability to build relationships rooted in honesty, emotional safety, and genuine connection.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road. Some of the most meaningful parts of my work grew from experiences that were deeply painful. Learning how to transform my own pain into purpose required me to do my own healing, look honestly at myself, and understand that surviving something is different from fully processing it.
One of the greatest challenges was pursuing my education while raising a young family. When I returned to school, I continued consecutively from my associate degree through my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I was not only a student. I was also a wife and the mother of two children, trying to remain present for my family while completing the education and training required to build the career I felt called to pursue.
Today, I am still balancing those roles as a wife, mother, business owner, counselor, and doctoral student. Each role matters deeply to me, but balancing them has required sacrifice, flexibility, and the willingness to accept that I cannot always give everything the same amount of attention at the same time. There have been seasons when my family needed more of me, seasons when my education demanded more, and seasons when growing the practice required me to stretch beyond what felt comfortable.
Building Resilient Mind Counseling and Coaching, PLLC has required me to become comfortable doing things differently. Much of my work goes beyond surface-level communication strategies and asks people to examine trauma, attachment, emotional patterns, and the ways they may have abandoned themselves to preserve a relationship. Creating specialized services, intensives, educational tools, and honest conversations around betrayal has required me to trust what I know, continue learning, and remain grounded in why I began this work.
These challenges have shaped both the counselor and the person I have become. They have taught me that resilience is not pretending something did not hurt or that the journey was easy. It is allowing every season to grow you without allowing the difficult parts to define or limit what comes next.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Resilient Mind Counseling and Coaching, PLLC?
Resilient Mind Counseling and Coaching, PLLC is the private counseling practice I founded in 2022. I serve individuals and couples in the Baytown and Mont Belvieu communities, as well as clients throughout Texas through virtual counseling.
I specialize in trauma, betrayal trauma, infidelity recovery, compulsive sexual behavior, relationship distress, and rebuilding emotional safety and trust. My services include individual and couples counseling, EMDR therapy, formal therapeutic disclosure, clinical assessments, betrayal trauma support, and counseling intensives for clients who need more focused time than a traditional weekly session can provide.
I am especially known for working with individuals and couples affected by betrayal, infidelity, pornography, and compulsive sexual behavior. These experiences often create more than a relationship problem. They can disrupt a person’s sense of safety, identity, reality, and ability to trust their own judgment. Effective treatment must address both the trauma experienced by the betrayed partner and the accountability, behavioral change, and emotional development needed from the partner who caused the harm.
What sets my work apart is that I do not rely solely on communication techniques or short-term strategies. My approach integrates trauma-informed care, attachment, family-of-origin work, emotional processing, and nervous system regulation. This allows clients to understand what is driving their reactions and recurring conflict patterns while developing healthier ways to respond.
When a couple chooses reconciliation, my role is not to push them back toward the relationship they had before. It is to help them determine whether they can create something more honest, secure, and emotionally safe. Rebuilding trust requires more than apologies or promises. It requires accountability, consistency, emotional honesty, and enough new experiences of safety for trust to begin growing again.
I am proud that Resilient Mind has grown beyond traditional weekly counseling. Through specialized intensives, formal therapeutic disclosure, clinical assessments, my Resilient Minds in Relationships podcast, and Secure Without Compromise, I can support people at different stages of their healing and provide education they can continue using in their everyday lives.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that people are not broken. Their responses often make sense in the context of what they have experienced. When people are given the right support, insight, and tools, they can learn to trust themselves again, make decisions from a place of clarity, and create relationships that do not require them to abandon who they are.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband, Chase, and our two children deserve so much credit for where I am today. They have been my greatest supporters and biggest cheerleaders throughout every stage of this journey.
When I returned to school, I continued consecutively from my associate degree through my bachelor’s and master’s degrees while raising our young family. That required sacrifices from all of us. My family gave me the time, patience, encouragement, and support I needed to keep going. Their support continues today as I complete my doctorate, grow as a counselor, and lead Resilient Mind Counseling and Coaching.
My best friend, Ashley, also played an important role in keeping me balanced during that season of my life. She was someone I could talk to, laugh with, and lean on when I felt overwhelmed. She reminded me to slow down, stay grounded, and make space for myself outside of being a student, counselor, wife, mother, and business owner.
I have also been fortunate to have wonderful colleagues who have shared their knowledge, collaborated with me, and challenged me to continue growing as a clinician. Their support has reminded me that being a solo practice owner does not mean I have to grow professionally in isolation.
Although I am the counselor and business owner, this journey has never belonged to me alone. I would not be where I am today without my family, Ashley, and the professional community that has continued to believe in me and support the work I feel called to do.
