Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Herbert.
Hi Kay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in a small town in Louisiana called Labadieville. I have always been into everything relating to Fashion. I have always wanted to be a Model, Fashion designer or Fashion stylist. I can now say that I have did all of the three listed. In 2018 I started a boutique that sold to 26 states and generated steady revenue. Covid came around and made it hard for me to get shipments so I decided to put my sewing machine to use and design pieces. In 2021 I decided to move to Houston to network to more people with my Fashion business. I instantly was able to connect with photographers and many more people. I honestly got where I am through God and my loving family/friends.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has not been smooth but it has helped me grow into who I am as of now. I would not be able to be who I am if it wasn’t for those obstacles in my way. I lost close family members in 2021 which resulted in me taking a mental break for a few months. My grandma who was one of my biggest supporter passed away from lung cancer that was a big loss for me. I am the first granddaughter so our bond was extremely strong. I decided that if I’ll be a descendant of such a strong, powerful and God-fearing woman that I must push through and follow my dreams.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business caters to people of all sizes and races. I specialize in image consulting and fashion styling. I attended a School for Fashion in 2015 where I learned many things about garments, fashion shows and styling others. I am known for my fashion and personality. The thing that sets me aside from others is how much I care about body positivity and self-esteem when it comes to fashion. I belong that when you feel good, you look good in your eyes as well. I am very connected to each one of my clients because I care about their insecurities to help them love them instead. I am proud of my brand because it is different in a good way. My brand stands out from others due to me creating relationships with my clients. I want the readers to know that my brand offers personal styling, personal shopping, virtual shopping, virtual styling, wedding styling, image revamps and custom garments.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My support system definitely deserves credit when I am not feeling my best, they are there to let me know that I am doing amazing. My Pastor Sammuel Tilford back in Louisiana always prays over me when I return home. My family and friends are always there supporting me in many ways. My mom would bring me to many modeling castings in one month just to support my dreams. I have a really strong support system and I am extremely blessed.
