Inspiring Conversations with Kelly Jackson of Bayou City Keys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Jackson.

Hi Kelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Husband and I started Bayou City Keys in 2019. We both previously worked for the company that provides the key program in Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, etc. That eventually led us to discover Locksmithing. We did our research and completed our Apprenticeship in order to become licensed and start our Business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had no idea we were starting a brand new Busi ess weeks before a world wide Pandemic would erupt and completely change our way of life for a long period of time. A large part of what we do is Automotive Key programming, which relies largely on Chips. The same Chips that became almost impossible to get due to the shortage. We learned yp deeply rely on God for guidance amd peace of mind amd knew that if our Business could survive Covid, we would survive almost anything. We have remained the only Locally Owned and Operated Locksmith in Magnolia Texas.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a Local Locksmith Company fully Licensed through the State of Texas. We offer Mobile and Instore services, including Automotive, Residential and Commercial needs. We stay up to date on software and Technology which allows us the ability to cut and program Keys to vehicles that are fresh off the manufacture line or simply a copy to a classic car. We cut pretty much any type of key you may have, even when the big stores can’t do it. If you lose all ofnyohr keys, we offer mibile service to come and makenuoh a whole new set. We install and repair Commercial Hardware, Master Key Systems, Panic bars and simple Rekeys as well as residential services.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The person who I would say had the biggest influence on me in my career path, would be Mike Ballero. He was my mentor at a previous Sales job and taught me most of what I know about sales and pitching to get new Accounts. My Husband and I met at a job in high-school amd have spent much of our adult lives working for the same companies, so we have always been a team strive to encourage and motivate eachother to reach our fullest potential in everything we do. However, without God’s grace and guidance, nothing we have accomplished would be possible.
