Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Haley
Hi Leah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was in college and realized I was there for the wrong reasons and not for myself. I had a major event happen back home and it just made me realize i needed to be pursuing what I was passionate about. So I started cosmetology school and harvey hit. I still graduated but jobs were hard to find. The year I decided to go out on my own was the year of covid. So ive had two major disasters per se trying to get my career going. But now i share a huge suite with my best friend and im booking clients well in advance! I couldn’t be more grateful to be where i am.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Between Harvey and Covid it was rough trying to build a clientele!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hair with a side of hippie ?
I’m a hair stylist that specializes in color! I think what I’m known for and what sets me apart is that I want to make my clients feel like they’re heard and important. I want them to leave my chair feeling better than when they got there. I think that’s what I’m most proud of brand wise. I feel like I truly give my all to my clients. I of course have boundaries but hair is a very personal business and establishing a relationship is very important to me.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve always been envious of those who jump at any opportunity no matter the risk. I wouldn’t say I’m not a risk taker but I’m also not going to go full throttle either. I think there is value in risk taking. You’re bound to learn something from it no matter the outcome. I think it helps build our character to fail but also to achieve what we set our minds to!
