Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Nwajei of NLG Law Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Nwajei.

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As cliché as it may sound, I knew from childhood that I wanted to be a lawyer. At just 10 years old, while reading A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, I became fascinated by the law’s power to serve as either a force for good or a tool of destruction, depending on its gatekeepers. That realization planted the seed of my life’s purpose: to use the law to empower, defend, and advocate for society’s marginalized.

My calling led me to The University of Texas at Austin, where I graduated with honors with a degree in Government. After a brief gap period, I returned to UT Austin to attend Texas Law. During my time there, I not only grew academically and professionally but also personally—I got married, became a mother, and built an online community of more than 250,000 people who I’ve had the privilege of inspiring, motivating, and connecting with.

Shortly after passing the Texas Bar Exam, I decided to take a chance on myself and founded NLG Law Group, a boutique personal injury firm. I’ve always been self‑motivated, ambitious, and hard‑working, and I knew this path would allow me to provide intentional, personalized, and effective legal representation. At NLG Law Group, I remain committed to delivering fierce advocacy and an elevated client experience. I look forward to growing NLG Law Group into a top Texas firm known for providing excellent and personable legal care to all Texans.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has not been a smooth one. I’ve had my share of obstacles along the way. Navigating the legal field as a Black woman, who make up only about 2% of lawyers nationwide, has presented both internal and external challenges. Yet, with each step, I continue to grow in confidence as a professional and remind myself that I am more than capable of achieving the goals I’ve set. Furthermore, balancing the demands of being a wife and mother alongside building a legal career has not always been easy, but I strive to embrace the challenges, create balance, and extend grace to myself along the way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
NLG Law Group is a boutique personal injury law firm rooted in the belief that legal representation should be both fierce and compassionate. We specialize in helping injured individuals across Texas navigate the aftermath of their injuries with clarity, confidence, and care. From auto accidents to wrongful death claims, we are dedicated to securing justice and fair compensation for our clients. We are intentional about providing an elevated client experience at every step.

What sets NLG apart is our commitment to delivering more than just legal results. We provide legal care. We are not a volume-driven firm where clients become case numbers. Instead, we take pride in offering personalized, high-touch representation that centers each client’s unique needs. From the moment someone contacts us, they are treated with dignity, respect, and urgency.

I am proud to have built a brand that is authentic, relatable, and empowering. I founded NLG Law Group to reflect my core values of intentional service, excellence without ego, and advocacy that feels human. Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation we are building for being both highly effective and deeply client-centered.

At NLG, we are redefining what personal injury representation looks like. We are committed to raising the bar, not just in legal outcomes but in how people feel throughout the process. We want every Texan who walks through our virtual or physical doors to feel seen, heard, and fiercely advocated for.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m actually quite introverted. Despite having a large social media presence and regularly engaging with thousands of people, there are few things I love more than complete solitude. In my early twenties, I was an avid solo traveler and found so much joy in exploring the world on my own. Those quiet moments of reflection and independence have shaped both who I am and how I show up in my work today.
