Hi Pamela, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have over 14 years of professional experience -on both the seeking and hiring sides- in sectors such as sales and marketing, international homeland security, engineering, legal, and oil and gas. Over the years, I’ve combined my learning experiences from Corporate America with my undeniable passion for helping other succeed, which led me to become an expert resume writer and career coach.
Also, I had decided to start PCT Consulting Solutions, a company that prides itself on helping professionals and students overcome the evolving challenges of career development and goal setting in a sustained way. PCT Consulting Solutions is all about self-empowerment and truly learning the skills to take charge of your career path.
I believe that everyone is coachable. Whether your resume isn’t getting the results you desire, struggling with getting out of your shell during interviews, or if you don’t know where to start your next job search.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When I was 25 and 3 months pregnant, I was laid off from oil and gas job. Economically, this was a challenging time for the oil and gas industry. The markers were not doing great, and so many people were losing their jobs. I was on them. It was the most stressful and challenging years of my life.
The anxiety of no longer having medical insurance, no steady income, and no idea how I would support my unborn child brought me to tears many times. watching the bills pile up made my chest feel tight, and I struggled to find someone who would hire a woman that was already a few months pregnant.
Of course, I felt hopeless.
And I’ve seen friends and family member lose their jobs. I knew if there was past ” Pamela” out there, the same shoes I was 10 years ago, I want to know, ” It’s going to be okay.” You will survive this.
My experience of being laid off is what inspired me to begin career coaching. Because during this emotionally tough time, you need someone who’s in your corner to help search for a new job, re-write a resume, and speed up the entire job application process.
