Hi Patty &, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our choreography journey actually started back in 2018 with my (Patty’s) sister’s quinceañera. My family knew I loved dancing, so they asked me to choreograph her waltz and surprise dance. I immediately reached out to Kevin (my best friend and now co-founder) because we had always danced together at school events. He agreed, and we spent about two months creating and teaching the dances. Thankfully, everything turned out great!
What we didn’t expect was the response afterward. A lot of girls who attended her quince reached out asking who choreographed it, and when they found out it was us, they started contacting me to see if we could do their events too. That’s when I talked to Kevin about officially starting a choreography business. We were only 18 at the time, so we didn’t really know much about running a business — but we had passion, commitment, and we trusted our creativity.
Fast forward seven years and over fifteen events later, we’ve developed a structured process that works smoothly for both us and our clients. Every event has taught us something, and we’ve used those lessons to build a system we’re proud of. What started as something small for my sister has grown into a service that helps families bring their quince dreams to life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve had some great moments but it is not always a smooth road, learning how to manage a business has been tough, because it really does take alot of time and dedication to see outcomes. Dedicating personal time to build and do what we love and also elevate it. In the start of our business we were also very young so not all of our clients would take us very seriously, so we had to really dedicate time to grow as teachers and as entrepreneurs.
We’ve been impressed with Diamante Choreography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Diamante Choreography is a very personal passion project for us. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all dances, every routine is customized to the quinceañera and her group. We pay close attention to their comfort levels and experience, and we never push moves that won’t feel natural or look good. Our goal is always to make them feel confident, not overwhelmed.
What really sets us apart is the support we give families beyond choreography. We offer full day-of coordination, creating the entire presentation timeline and working directly with the DJ so everything flows smoothly. Since there are two of us, we’re able to cover all sides of the event. Sometimes Kevin is with the DJ handling cues, while I’m with the quinceañera and her family making sure everyone feels calm and taken care of.
We’re most proud of the relationships we build with our families. We want them to feel like this is one part of the planning they never have to stress about. And because we know how expensive quince planning can be, we also offer payment plans to make things easier.
At the heart of it, Diamante Choreography is about patience, personalization, and giving each family a beautiful, supported experience from the first practice to the last moment of the big day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Our business, I believe, started out of luck — it wasn’t something either of us were actively looking for. Once we choreographed together for the first time, our passion and joy for it were undeniable. Although we’ve had some instances where people did not value us, those moments helped us learn and grow. Over the years, we’ve learned that it’s also about putting in time and hard work. Sometimes we miss personal events or family gatherings, but we do it because we’re committed to making these days so special for our clients. We truly enjoy spending time creating dances, and we love seeing the kids so excited to learn and perform. What may have started with luck has grown into something built through dedication, consistency, and a genuine love for what we do.
