Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Hrncir and Brittany Waterman. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Brittany Waterman and Rachel Hrncir started their careers over a decade ago with a small boutique brokerage in Montrose, where they managed teams of agents. In 2017, Brittany and Rachel were recruited by a larger firm. As difficult as the decision was to leave, they made the move in hopes to further their education in an ever-changing industry. Major changes started to rock a once-stable industry, including new national brokers entering the Houston market. The time felt right to start their very own brokerage with local, specialized service at the forefront of their business model. In April 2019, Steel Door Realty was born.
Taking the best industry knowledge from both the small and large companies with which they started their careers, Brittany and Rachel developed a brokerage to meet the needs of their clients while having the freedom to grow at their own pace. Their first year in business focused on building a successful team of Realtors and support staff who value the family atmosphere, something the Steel Door Realty owners are very passionate about. While they understand their business model isn’t bulletproof and already overcoming some hurdles, including the balance between business ownership, motherhood and loss. Brittany and Rachel have felt strong support from their growing community and are up for any challenge that lies ahead. With just two years under their belt, Steel Door Realty has grown to 13 agents, two transaction coordinators and completed a stunning finish out on a 3,000 sq ft community gathering space in the iconic Houston Heights.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The true testament of a partnership is when you’re tested with trying times. Our obstacles haven’t so much been business-related, but personal that directly would affect business. From tragic loss of family members, joyous birth of children and big moves, we have always picked up each other’s slack in a heartbeat when needed. This support system not only exists, it overflows through the entire company of agents and their families as well. Our mindset is anything is possible when you have the right people supporting you.

Steel Door Realty is a full-service Real Estate Brokerage. We offer buying, leasing and listing for both Commercial and Residential. Housing a 3000 sq ft space in the Heights sets Steel Door apart from other brokers. We are able to fulfill their love for hosting events while offering space for friends, family, clients and strangers to do the same.
