Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Breaux.
Raquel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a passion for entrepreneurship I have a background degree in Marketing and Business and have worked in several fields of industries before. I’m also an avid learner and keep taking courses for personal development, with my most recent being a Life Coaching Course. For the last seven years or so, I was in the Oil and Gas industry and worked in various areas but focused on business development and marketing.
I’ve also been single for the past couple of years and tried different types of dating apps personally, which has led me to my newest business endeavor Revolve Dating. I started creating and developing a new concept dating app in July 2019; I wanted to create a dating app that would be more of a tool to meet singles in person rather than an app that just wastes people’s time swiping and texting. Revolve Dating app will have features built into the app that other competitors simply have not thought of. Users will be able to send other users they have matched with a date request with location/time/date for other users to accept or pass. It’s bringing back face-to-face dating again to make real connections in person with the calendar booking capability in the app. There is not texting or swiping feature in the app; matching will be based on calendar availability, preferences in users and ultimately location. The app is launching this summer, and I’m excited for all of the singles to give it a try!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been as smooth as I would have liked. Since I worked in a full-time job, it was hard to find time to work on the business and plan the creation of the app. I would say that I’ve found my passion in creating apps, and Revolve Dating is going to be the first of many more.
The main struggle is staying focused on my plan and not letting negative people influence my business decisions or be a part of them. Along the journey, I’ve also struggled with health challenges that have caused delays in accomplishing business goals. Finding the right people to motivate you and support you is very important, and that’s one thing every business owner needs; I’m thankful for my family that have fully supported me throughout this journey.
We’ve been impressed with Revolve Dating, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Revolve Dating is a new dating app unlike any other app on the market at this moment. The app is catered to people who really want to meet and date others in person; it’s built on creating in-person connections and encourages to meet in person rather than to just chat and waste time. Some people might call it to speed dating in our modern times since this app has absolutely no chatting or swiping features. The app is very unique as it is based on a calendar-based availability feature. it goes into a series of questions for each user to fill out, including when they are available to date.
The user will fill out their calendar availability schedule along with the preferences they are searching for in others. Once they have set up their account profile, they will be able to be matched based on their preferences and location. Users are able to then simply send date requests that include location/time/date and other users are able to accept and have a calendar full of dates setup easily for them without any pre chatting or swiping. It’s great for people who are wanting to meet others in a quick, effective and fun way. Once the dates are booked, the users are able to make real connections in person and enjoy their date! Revolve Dating app is launching this summer 2021, and we are extremely proud to have a new tool on the market for people to utilize and make dating like it use to be, in person rather than just chatting. The app will be available globally for everyone to give it a try!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have found that in all businesses I’ve worked for, I create good relationships with business leaders and try learning as much as I can from them to expand my knowledge base. I’ve also found mentors that I’ve worked with through LinkedIn and other platforms that has also helped me grow my network and reach people I never thought I’d work with. My advice is to not be scared of reaching out to new people and make new connections, so y0u can learn new tools for your own business or career. Also, be consistent with mentors. When you have someone to hold you accountable for your goals, you’ll stay focused and reach them quickly!
