Today, we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Paulsel.
Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a deep and immense love for all creatures, both big and small. Growing up, I was always surrounded by pets of my own, from dogs, cats, parrots, bunnies, guinea pigs, small pocket pets, fish, and even turtles.
When I was 17 years old, a dear family friend had a Golden Retriever that was expecting a litter of puppies. They kindly asked me if I would help welp the litter of ten puppies, to which I happily said yes! I wasn’t supposed to bring a puppy home, but after falling in love with one of them, I brought my sweet Dakota home. Dakota is named after my childhood home state of South Dakota. She is such a sweetheart, the biggest goofball, extremely loyal, and the most loving companion I could ask for. Dakota is also the inspiration for The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting.
I have been working in the pet care industry for a little over a decade. In high school, I started by volunteering with retired racing Greyhounds at Greyhound Pets of America – Houston. I worked in several doggie daycares and boarding facilities before working for a dog walking and pet-sitting company for several years. My next goal was to learn more about the health and well-being of animals, so I spent a few years working in the veterinary industry, focusing on dogs, cats, and exotics, as a Certified Veterinary Assistant and Veterinary Technician.
I enjoy continuing education and learning new things related to animals, pets and business. I have certifications for, pet first aid and CPR. I am also a Certified Veterinary Assistant level 1 (CVA1), along with holding a certificate as a human phlebotomist.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anything in life, there have been speed bumps and obstacles along the way. Being a professional dog walker and pet sitter can throw some curveballs at times. Figuring out the best advertising and marketing strategies in today’s ever-changing world is one of those hurdles. However, with God by my side and learning along the way, it has brought me to where I am today, and I wouldn’t change a thing!
We’ve been impressed with The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting provides professional dog walking and pet sitting as our main services. We provide complimentary meet & greets, which are required for all new clients. We offer our clients several different visit lengths for ease and flexibility. Some of the other services we offer are anytime flexible cat and critter care, medication administration, and home care visits, aka house sitting. We just added our newest service, coop care for chickens and ducks. We have plans to add some more services in the near feature, to better serve and help our clients as we grow.
The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting aims to provide a reliable and trustworthy environment for you and your pets. We believe that every pet deserves to live a happy and healthy life. We strive to provide a fun and safe environment for your pets while also giving them the exercise and attention they need to thrive. We also enjoy our human clients and believe building great relationships is just as important as the pets! Without our clients, none of them would be possible!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is having dreams and goals, while putting in the hard work to make them come true and trying your best in life. I think it’s also having a positive impact on people and serving others around you.
