Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Jones
Hi Rodney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Rodney Jones grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Clark Atlanta University, earning his B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing with Honors before earning his J.D. from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Rodney has an extensive background in business, entertainment, and real estate. Before earning his J.D., Rodney held several leadership positions in the business field and worked as a law clerk for Judge Belinda Hill in the Harris County District Court.
Immediately after becoming licensed to practice law in 2012, Rodney founded the Rodney Jones Law Group P.C., where he currently serves as CEO and Managing Partner. Rodney is a licensed Escrow Officer and Fee attorney for Fidelity National Title Company. He chairs the board of Directors for the Houston Texas Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 26 (Sunnyside TIRZ) and sits on the board of several community-based civic clubs. Rodney is also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Society, American Bar.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Although it has been road that’s provided Rodney strength and ambition. Rodney started his firm straight out of law school with no capital, funding, and having a family provide for. Starting his firm from ground zero he had to build his clientele and network his way to where he is today. Rodney has gone through multiple trials and tribulations including loosing both of his parents within the same year during his early stages of his practice. He also went through a divorce but still maintained his business and grew his family during this time. The growing pains of each stage and learning about the business while still practicing law was challenging.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The attorneys here are specialists in thinking outside the box to resolve legal matters. We work hard to serve and protect our clients and will fight to the very end to ensure justice is served for our clients. We attribute much of our success to providing personalized services at reasonable rates and being conveniently located throughout Houston.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
It’s important to surround yourself with those who are motivated and are where YOU want to be. When Rodney networks, it’s not about meeting everyone in the room but meeting those key people who are achieving what you are striving to do. Your success is based upon the relationships you build.
