Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Mason.
Shannon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Houston native. Born and raised in Southwest Alief area. I went to TSU for my freshman year in 2005, but later graduated from Dental School in Mesquite Texas as a RDA, with my associates in Health Science and business info tech. I later began her career in the Real Estate Mortgage industry in 2015 as a loan processor and has since advanced to various roles including, Processing Manager, Underwriter, Closer, and now a VP of Special Assets, with a well-known mortgage company. During my career I noticed many things the people of our communities are unaware of such as how to purchase a home as a 1st time home buyer, and also the details of what it takes to even qualify. Through my company, SK Mason Enterprises LLC, I now offer my business services like mobile notary, and property management for property owners. I also assists both new and experienced investors with access to property investments, education and support property owners through professional project management services. My goal is helping clients achieve success and build profitable real estate opportunities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, because it is easy to dream the dream, but when it comes time to put in the work, that is another story. Life tends to teach you different lessons and show you the road to success can be challenging. Its all about how you take your L’s and turn them into Lessons.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started SK Mason Enterprises because I initially wanted to host seminars where I invited my colleagues to come out and speak to the community about the details and processes surrounding the home buying and investing industry. However, as I worked through what that may look like in the future, it opened up bigger ideas and how I could better serve the community.
I became a certified signing agent to assist with mortgage closings, and I am currently finishing my 2nd career in Real Estate, obtaining my Real Estate license to better serve the community, all while still planning and hosting more quarterly and annual seminars to help educate and enlighten our brothers and sisters to have access to the information they need to further their own lives and reach their dreams.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
While I cannot foresee the future. I have faith that If I am doing the work and being of service to better the lives of others the most high will continue to bless me and bring my dreams to light.
I want to build something that will last and something that people need.
