Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Savoy.
Hi Shannon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From Survival to Soul Healing: The Birth of Narc Free Living
I did not understand the importance of healing soul wounds before dating and marriage. Unfornately, I learned that the hard way.
Over twelve years ago, I married a narcissistic sociopath. That decision became the beginning of a journey that would redefine my life, my faith, my calling, and my business.
At the time, I was a 20-year Army veteran. Educated. Strong. A woman of faith. Earning over six figures. On paper, I did not fit the profile of someone who would experience domestic abuse. But abuse does not have a look. It does not discriminate based on status, rank, education, ethnicity, or faith. Behind closed doors, my life felt like something out of a movie. I was married to someone who could shift from charming to cruel in an instant.
And while I had grown up in the church, no one had ever taught me about narcissism, spiritual warfare, or how deeply abuse operates in both the natural and spiritual realms. We were taught to fight for marriages that God did not put together. I found myself asking one life-altering question:
How did I get here?
That question led me into one of the most painful, but necessary, seasons of my life. When I began seeking God deeply, He revealed a truth I could not ignore:
Love and abuse do not coexist.
He made a way of escape, and I did not look back. But freedom was not just about leaving. It was about healing the root.
Marrying a sociopath forced me to confront a hard truth. This was not just about him. It exposed what was unhealed in me. What I lacked in inner healing mattered more than who he was. In the end, it was never really about him at all. It was about what needed to be healed within me.
As I sought God, He showed me that what I was facing did not begin with my marriage. It ran through my bloodline.
What I thought was a relationship issue was actually generational cycles, trauma, and spiritual patterns I had never confronted.
The awakening was overwhelming. I came to the realization that I had grown up in a narcissistic environment. That truth shook me to my core.
Like Joseph, I experienced betrayal within my own family. Like Abraham, I was called to leave what was familiar. After enduring character assassination and deep personal attacks, I made the difficult decision to go no contact with people I loved. What felt like loss was actually preparation.
That season did not break me. God built me in it.
Today, I am remarried to my Kingdom husband, Solomon. Together, we help others break free from narcissistic abuse and step into healing and purpose. I can boldly say I am free. And my beautiful children are now beneficiaries of soul healing and a praying mother.
In 2020, after going no contact and walking through what I call Spiritual ICU, God gave me the vision for Narc Free Living. I found my voice and began speaking openly about narcissistic abuse, especially within families and faith communities. What started as obedience became a movement. Today, Narc Free Living has grown into a global community of Chain Breakers. My voice is a beacon and an awakening for survivors who are coming out of Spiritual ICU and reclaiming their voice, identity, and freedom.
The Impact & Legacy
I am not building a platform for visibility. I am building a legacy that breaks cycles, restores identity, and shifts generations. Everything I create is rooted in one mission: to give voice to the silenced, healing to the wounded, and strategy to those ready to rebuild their lives in truth. My work is not just about awareness. It is about transformation, deliverance, and sustainable freedom. The impact I carry is not accidental. It is intentional, lived, and multiplied through every life I touch.
In 2021, I was honored with the Voice of the Voiceless Award, recognizing my advocacy and commitment to those who have been silenced by abuse.
In 2022, I launched Chain Breaker University, a deliverance ministry and coaching program designed to help survivors move beyond awareness and into true, transformative healing.
I have been recognized with multiple honors including:
• Social Impact Leadership Award (2023)
• Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award (2024)
• Top Kingdom Entrepreneur (2025)
• Top 20 Financial Women of the Year (2024)
I am also a four-time bestselling author. My books include:
• Breaking Free From Domestic Violence: A Survival Guide to Reclaiming Your Life and Freedom
• The Imposters: From Counterfeit Altars to Kingdom Authority in Christ
• Soulology: The Study of the Soul – How it breaks + How it heals
• Breaking Free From Narcissistic Abuse (survivor anthologies)
• The Power of Breaking The Silence: The Blueprint of a Survivor (survivor anthology)
• Money TALK$: Uncut Convos With Power Couples About Love
Each work was birthed from lived experience and carries a singular purpose: to guide others through healing, truth, and transformation. These are not just books. They are blueprints for breaking cycles and reclaiming identity.
The Mission
Awareness is not enough. Many people know the five ways and ten signs of a narcissist. They know all the traits. They may even know the DSM-5 characteristics – and still end up with a narcissist, just like me. Transformation requires more than awarnesses. It requires deeper work. And for me and my community, it begins with the soul.
Today, my signature framework, Soul Care, sits at the center of everything I do. It is a faith-based, trauma-informed approach designed to heal the mind, will, and emotions. Because healing is not surface-level. It is integration.
I serve as a trauma-informed recovery coach, pastoral counselor, speaker, business mentor, Houston realtor, and advocate. But more than anything…I am a spiritual midwife. Helping women birth purpose out of pain. What the enemy meant for harm, God has used for good.
Nothing was wasted. No tear was overlooked. My mission remains clear: To help others break the chains, link by link.
If you’re ready to stop surviving and start healing, I’ll walk with you. Sometimes you do not need more awareness. You need a decision. This is where cycles end. Book your 1:1 transformation or clarity session today and begin your Soul Care journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road, and I do not say that lightly. Some of my deepest wounds did not come from the world. They came from places that were supposed to be safe = family and the church.
I experienced soul wounds in environments where I was taught to serve, submit, and stay silent, even when something did not feel right. Over time, I had to confront a difficult truth that shifted everything for me. Everything labeled “God” is not always God, and discernment is not optional when your identity and well-being are on the line.
At one point, I found myself connected to a church environment that operated more like a cult than a place of healing. There was control, manipulation, and spiritual abuse, all presented through scripture and structure in a way that looked right on the outside but did not produce life. While I fully believe there are healthy, Spirit-led churches, I had to learn, through experience, how to recognize the difference.
That season did not destroy me, but it did require me to go deeper. It pushed me into a place of intentional healing, deeper study, and a stronger dependence on God. It also revealed a gap that I could not ignore. People are not just in need of teaching. Most people are wounded inner child in adult’s bodies. They are in need of soul care.
Out of that realization, Soul Care Sundays were birthed as a space for women who have experienced narcissistic abuse, spiritual manipulation, and emotional trauma to come and truly heal. It is not a space to perform or pretend, but a place where women can process, restore, and rebuild in a safe and honest environment.
As I continued on that journey, grief became a necessary part of the process. It was not only grief from relationships, but grief from lost time, lost identity, and lost versions of myself. I had to allow myself to mourn both what I went through and what I tolerated. In that place of mourning, God began to give me language, structure, and clarity around what I had experienced.
That is where Soulology was born, a framework that explains how the soul breaks and how it heals. In the same way, overcoming spiritual deception, manipulation, and counterfeit leadership led me to write The Imposters, because I saw how many people were following voices that appeared to be aligned with God but were not sent by Him.
So no, the journey was not smooth, but it was necessary. I do not waste pain. I build from it. Every obstacle became a blueprint, every wound became wisdom, and every difficult season became a strategy to help someone else find freedom.
What almost silenced me became the very thing God used to give me my voice, and today that voice is used to bring deliverance, clarity, and transformation to others who are ready to break free.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At the core of my work is one mission. To help people move from survival into true, transformative healing.
Through Narc Free Living and my Soul Care framework, I guide individuals through clear pathways to healing. This is not surface-level coaching. I do not just counsel victims. I walk people through the process of confronting, understanding, and breaking the patterns, systems, and root issues that are often ignored in traditional spaces.
Many people are taught how to identify the signs of abuse, but very few are taught how to heal from it at the root. That is where my work is different.
I specialize in helping individuals uncover what is beneath the behavior by examining the fruit in their lives. We go beyond awareness and into deep, intentional transformation. That includes addressing trauma, rebuilding identity, restoring boundaries, and breaking generational and relational cycles.
What sets me apart is both my training and my lived experience, my transparency, and my God-given authority to go where most won’t.
I am trauma-informed and neuroscience aware, and I integrate those principles with counseling approaches such as cognitive and behavioral frameworks, along with crisis trauma recovery training from my Master’s program in pastoral counseling. At the same time, I bring a faith-based perspective that acknowledges the spiritual dimension of healing. This allows me to support the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.
But beyond credentials, I am also a survivor.
I do not teach from theory alone. I have lived through the very things I now help others overcome. I understand the confusion, the grief, the rebuilding process, and what it takes to come out on the other side whole.
That is why I am known for compassionate care and for being a voice for those who feel unseen or unheard. My work creates space for people to be honest about their experiences while also equipping them with practical and spiritual tools to move forward.
Through my programs, including Soul Care, group sessions like Soul Care Sundays, and individual coaching, I help clients transition from surviving to thriving with clarity, structure, and support.
What I am most proud of is not just the brand, but the impact. I get to help others in their most vulnerable moments with safety, compassion, and care.
Narc Free Living is more than a business. It is a movement of people who are choosing healing, truth, and freedom. It is a space where individuals can come as they are, confront what they have experienced, and leave with the tools and understanding needed to rebuild their lives.
What I want readers to know is simple.
Healing is possible, but it requires more than awareness. It requires truth, intention, and the willingness to go deeper.
That is the work. And that is what I do.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Houston is a vibrant, opportunity-filled city. It really has whatever you need and then some.
As Houston Realtors, my husband and I love the touring homes and making sure our clients have a first class home buying experience. Everything is bigger in Texas, and you see that in the space, the layouts, and the variety. Whether someone wants luxury, land, new construction, or something established, Houston gives you options that actually fit your life.
I also love the diversity. The cultures, the people, the energy. Every area has its own personality. You can drive a short distance and feel like you stepped into a completely different environment. That is something I do not take for granted.
There is always something to do. Events, restaurants, art, community gatherings. If you are bored in Houston, that is a personal choice.
I enjoy living in the west suburbs because it gives me balance. I get peace, space, and a sense of community, but I am still close enough to tap into the city whenever I want that faster pace.
Now let’s be real.
The traffic will humble you.
You will plan your whole day around a 20 minute drive that turns into 45 if you are not paying attention. It comes with the territory of a city that is growing and expanding at the rate Houston is.
But once you learn how to move, when to move, and what routes to take, it becomes manageable.
Overall, Houston is a city where you can build something real. You can expand, create, and live well if you are intentional.
And that is what makes it special.
