Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Cooper.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been working in the field of Human Resources for some time now. I often found myself helping close friends and family with career advice and resume revisions. I decided to finally make it an official business. My primary goal has always been to help people excel and with my HR background and experience, I am able to help people thrive professionally. I help individuals sell themselves on paper!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! My job sometimes can turn into a resume writer to a career coach within seconds. The recruiting process has changed so much and is continuously changing and sometimes it can be difficult to convey that to my clients. Also, I am faced with so many clients who have an abundance of potential, but they are afraid to take a risk and make a career change. So I often have to encourage my clients to know they are capable of more, but I have to be mindful not to overstep.

Additionally, I am not originally from Houston so a major struggle I’ve had is growing my Houston client base. A lot of my clients are “word of mouth”, which is amazing! However, I am really trying to get into the Houston market and help my Houstonians gain fulfilling careers!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Taylor’d Experience helps individuals achieve their career goals. Primarily, by creating and/or revising career documents. We offer a variety of services such as: resume revisions, cover letter creation, curriculum vitae creation and even resignation letters. The primary goal of The Taylor’d Experience is to provide affordable services to individuals to help them gain fulfilling careers, jobs and opportunities. Working as a Human Resource professional and earning my Master’s in HR has allowed me to learn the ins and outs of the talent acquisition process. I have been on the other side before and I know the feeling when you meet the qualifications of a job and would be stellar if given the chance, but you receive an automation rejection email simply because you were not able to properly articulate your skills and qualifications on your resume. People should not be counted out because they don’t know how to properly “sell themselves on paper”.
That is where The Taylor’d Experience comes in, we transform individuals’ career documents and help them land interviews!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid has changed so much when it comes to the job hunting process. One major thing, is so many people are realizing they can have control over their work environment. A lot of times when people inquire about my services one of their job requirements they mention is, “I want to be home-based”. Covid-19 has really allowed employees to have that flexibility. Corporations are aware of it and they realize in order to obtain a good talent they need to have more remote or hybrid roles. I enjoy helping people find opportunities that meet their checklist. Additionally, the pandemic has brought SO many job opportunities. Due to a lot of people deciding to be stay at home parents or starting their own business, companies are in dire need to fill roles. It’s almost impossible to go anywhere and not see a “we’re hiring” sign. This makes it a great time for people to make career changes if they are willing.

These lessons have allowed me to be more creative in my services. Tailoring my services to all people: entry-level employees, executives, entrepreneurs, business owners, and even those who have been out of the workforce for years. Anyone can have a resume!
