Today we’d like to introduce you to Ti-Onna Watson.
Hi Ti-Onna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in a season of life that required resilience early on. Experiencing significant trauma that led to becoming a mother as a teenager forced me to grow up quickly, but it also gave me a deep sense of purpose and an early understanding of responsibility, self-advocacy, and boundaries. Those formative experiences shaped not only who I am, but how I show up for others.
I pursued social work to better understand people beyond their roles, titles, and circumstances. Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated my career to serving individuals and families who have experienced trauma and or desire growth. I ultimately gained leadership skills while serving in a federal agency and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Program Director.
Today, I work with individuals across all ages, helping them strengthen both their personal and professional posturing—how they show up in relationships, workplaces, and in their own lives. My approach is grounded, relatable, and actionable. I focus on helping people move out of burnout, conflict cycles, and survival mode by building clarity, confidence, and sustainable boundaries. My work is less about perfection and more about progress—giving people real tools they can use immediately to create balance, stability, and self-trust.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of my earliest challenges was learning how to navigate responsibility before I fully had the space to discover myself. Becoming a young mother while pursuing higher education and a demanding career required resilience, discipline, and an unwavering belief in my purpose. Professionally, I’ve faced the challenge of leading in systems that are often under-resourced and slow to change, while still holding myself to a high standard of care and integrity. There were moments of burnout, self-doubt, and pressure to overextend myself, particularly as a woman in leadership and service-driven roles. Learning to set boundaries, advocate for myself, and redefine success on my own terms has been one of the hardest—but most transformative—lessons. Those challenges shaped my leadership style, deepened my compassion, and ultimately strengthened my commitment to helping others reclaim their power and well-being.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
In addition to our ability to provide effective evidence-based care, I’m especially proud of our ability to provide care within the community—in spaces like museums, restaurants, and social clubs—where people already feel connected and at ease. Through ThereAFTER Adult Therapy in Creative Spaces, we bring therapeutic support into real-world environments while maintaining a clear distinction from traditional counseling services.
Beyond therapy, we actively assist individuals with applications, benefits, and system navigation, helping reduce barriers that often prevent people from accessing the support they deserve. We also offer workshops focused on wellness, boundaries, stress management, and personal growth, creating opportunities for learning and connection outside of one-on-one sessions.
In addition, AFTER supports the next generation of clinicians by providing field placements and clinical supervision, grounded in ethical practice, professional development, and sustainable careers. This blend of community care, education, and advocacy reflects our commitment to making mental health support accessible, practical, and impactful—both inside and outside the therapy room.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
