Jelicia Lloyd on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Jelicia Lloyd shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jelicia, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What battle are you avoiding?
One battle I am avoid, is really leaning into my artistry. My greatest fear is failure. I feel if I lean to much into my skill I may fail. I know the fear may be a bit far fetch, mostly because I have created pieces that have caught a lot of people’s attention. The reality is, to become successful, one would have to take that leap of faith on yourself and their skills and I am not sure I am quite ready to do that.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey girl Hey! My name is Jelli and I am a fashion designer and a podcaster . If I had to describe my brand, I would say that it is more new age, edgy, with a modern tone. Uniqueness is a major when it comes to fashion, so each piece I design and create is one of kind and I never recreate a piece. Something bold about having a limited piece, that’s different from the next.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
When a person loses trust, I believe that breaks the bond between people. It is extremely hard for a person to regain trust once it has been broken. Time heals most wounds, so I believe that having patience and forgiveness could help restore the bond between individuals.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Sometimes others will not understand you, but don’t let that change how you feel about yourself.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I feel smart people today have lost the think outside of the box mentality. Think they have gotten so fixed on things that can be proven that sometimes they miss the opportunity to explore the new things that are waiting to be discovered.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story that’s told about me is that I really loved eggs and that I made amazing scrambled eggs. On a serious note, I hope the story people tell about me is that I gave anything I wanted to do my all and that I did my best to spread love and inclusion. I hope people say I was sassy and had a really great sense of style.
