Hi Aaliyah, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that has been bringing me joy lately is having the freedom to step out of my comfort zone. I’ve been trying new foods, exploring new places, meeting new people, and really making decisions for myself with awareness and confidence. It’s been refreshing, and that joy naturally flows into how I show up in other areas of my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Aaliyah McGuire, and I’m the founder of Mindset of a Goddess, where I coach soul-led men and women through major life shifts so they can step fully into their higher selves. My brand is special because it’s built from real-life experience, deep spiritual wisdom, and psychology, all blended into a practical and empowering approach. I’m also an avid reader, and over the years I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge that’s helped me succeed in my own journey. That inspired me to pour into self-aware individuals who are ready to transform, so they can thrive with confidence in their own lives. Right now, I’m working on expanding my offerings through coaching experiences, my Empowered Mindset audio library, and YouTube- Here I share insights from the mind, blending spirituality, transformation, and science to help you heal from past trauma, release survival mode, and create a life where you can truly thrive.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that I’ve released is the version of myself who felt obligated to stay loyal to family out of familiarity and comfort. For a long time, I believed that was love. I’ve come to understand that real love also requires respect, being seen, and being valued for who you truly are. It should be reciprocal. I no longer carry the weight of others’ projections, misjudgments, or envy masquerading as care or connection. Regardless of who they are to me. Instead of staying silent, I now speak up a lot more when necessary, create distance when needed, and remain confident being unapologetically me if that’s what keeps me in alignment! Releasing that old version of me has allowed me to step into a woman who honors herself fully. I attract relationships and partnerships that reflect that same energy .
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In 2024, I felt like giving up—not because I was weak, but because I was carrying burdens from people I no longer wanted to hold. This included past family , friends and associates. I struggled with loved ones being emotionally unavailable or expecting me to “stay strong” when that wasn’t enough. I even questioned life itself, thinking that perhaps God and the loved ones who had passed on would appreciate me more.
Then in 2025, I chose to fight for myself and create the stability and ideal life I wanted, even if it meant walking alone and building a soul family that truly aligned with me and loved me for me. . This time around, I don’t have anyone tied to my heart or depending on me—I set intentions solely for myself and my future. I reminded myself daily that I was free, and I truly was: free from burdens, toxicity, performers, envy, narcissism and imposters. I chose to claim my life and continue down the path God had already laid out for me.
Everything shifted when I started giving myself unconditional love. I realized that being strong doesn’t mean carrying pain, burdens, or sadness—it means releasing and trusting that better will come or there’s more to the story! By fully letting go, I opened the door to better opportunities, relationships, and experiences, and finally stepped into the life I was meant to live. I accepted that healing means being able to look back and see memories as growth and light, instead of only reliving pain. This is not saying I just forgot about every traumatic thing but I turned a lot of trauma into lessons . I allowed myself to see the light of things vs playing the blame game . I experienced a lot of self accountability as well . Knowing I deserved better and had the will power to have better ! It was me who was running from it !
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, this is the real me. Personally, I’m even more fun, funny, and caring the closer you get to me, but personality-wise, I only know how to be myself. I’ve noticed that many people judge or stereotype me because I don’t perform or try to fit a certain image, and my younger self learned that gets exhausting to do. Even a little boring – because there’s so many sides to me . I’ve learned that being unapologetically myself—the version I love—works best for me and allows me to show up fully in every aspect of my life. I don’t feel the need to mimic anyone or change my tone just to be accepted in any culture either. If anything, people enjoy me more when I show up exactly as I am. To be honest I been feeling like I live a real life so it requires the real me!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
For a long time, before I started my coaching business or really entrepreneurship full time , I was doing what I was told—or at least what was expected of me—to make money and pay bills. But now, I’m doing what I was truly born to do. I’m happier, more consistent, less burned out, and surrounded by like-minded people in my field. I genuinely look forward to the opportunities that come my way, and that’s how I know the work I’m doing is aligned with my purpose and calling.
Even outside of work, I find joy in simply being myself and sharing kindness, friendship, or love with those who need it. There’s something truly beautiful about connecting with people who reflect back the positivity and energy you give—it feels effortless and authentic, and it reminds me that being myself works best in every part of life. I used to be a heavy weed smoker — at first it was recreational, but eventually I leaned on it just to fall asleep. Since I started fully walking in my calling, I’ve been able to break the habit and now I sleep better on my own – that has been a big confirmation for me!
