We’re looking forward to introducing you to Elise Bynum. Check out our conversation below.
Elise, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Right now, I’m being called to step into leadership and visibility in my tax and credit repair business in a way I was once hesitant to do. In the past, I was afraid of putting myself fully out there—whether that meant networking, promoting my services, or positioning myself as an expert. But I’ve realized that people need the knowledge and solutions I provide, and holding back doesn’t serve them or my business. So I’m embracing that call, showing up with confidence, and leaning into opportunities that help me grow my business while helping others secure their financial futures.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Elise Bynum! I like to call myself a multi-passionate entrepreneur because I wear a few hats. On the beauty side, I’m a lash tech and educator, and I also co-manage Majestic Hair & Accessories where we offer wigs, bundles, body care, and more. I love helping women feel confident and beautiful in their own skin.
On the other side, I run a tax and credit repair business. That part of my journey is all about helping people get financially empowered—because looking good is great, but having your money and credit right is a whole different level of confidence.
What makes my story unique is that I’ve built my businesses around service and transformation. I don’t just want people to buy from me; I want them to leave better, whether that’s with a new look or a new level of financial freedom. Right now, I’m focused on growing both brands and stepping into bigger opportunities that allow me to impact even more lives.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who has taught me the most about work is my partner and husband, Kwamene Nichols. What I admire most about Kwamene is that his life is rooted in purpose, discipline, and service. As an author and the director of a nonprofit organization, he doesn’t just talk about leadership—he lives it every day.
Kwamene’s work ethic is impeccable. He treats every project—whether writing a book, running nonprofit programming, or mentoring others—with the same level of integrity, care, and excellence. He shows up early, prepared, and gives his full attention to the people he serves. Even when something is difficult or imperfect, he pushes through instead of quitting or cutting corners.
What I’ve learned from Kwamene is that success isn’t just about talent or knowledge—it’s about consistency, humility, and being committed to serving others. I’ve seen him set high standards, stay focused on long-term impact, and maintain his values in the face of obstacles. Those lessons inform how I run my businesses, how I treat clients, and how I grow—not just in revenue or reputation but in meaning.
Because of him, I believe in working not just hard, but with heart and with purpose. He’s taught me that the heart of good business lies in helping people, telling truth, creating value, and showing up even when it’s hard. Those lessons are at the core of my brand and everything I do.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would tell her: ‘Stop doubting yourself—everything you dream of is possible, and you are more than capable of building it. Don’t let fear or comparison slow you down. The things that feel like setbacks now are really setups for your growth. Keep going, keep learning, and keep trusting the process—you’re going to be proud of the woman you become.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say what really matters to me is people—helping them grow, feel confident, and live better. Whether it’s through my beauty businesses where I love seeing women light up after a service, or through my tax and credit repair work where I’m helping people take control of their financial futures, they know I’m passionate about transformation. They’d also say family and faith are at the core of who I am. I’m big on showing up for the people I love and creating spaces where others feel supported, encouraged, and empowered.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my customers would miss the personalized care and attention I bring to everything I do. In my beauty business, that’s the way I take the time to understand their style, preferences, and confidence goals, and create a look that truly makes them feel their best. In my tax and credit repair business, it’s the guidance, education, and encouragement I give clients to help them feel empowered about their finances. I don’t just provide a service—I create experiences and results that leave people feeling confident, informed, and supported.
