We recently had the chance to connect with Lynda Carouthers and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynda, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I am most proud of building is resilience and stability that few people ever see. Behind the scenes, I have built systems, routines, and a mindset rooted in faith that allow me to lead, parent, and serve consistently even during seasons of uncertainty. While others may see businesses or titles, they do not see the quiet discipline of showing up every day, choosing integrity when it is difficult, and creating safe and steady foundations for my family and the children and families I serve. That unseen work is what everything else is built on.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lynda Carouthers. I am a mother, entrepreneur, realtor, and advocate deeply committed to faith, family, and service. I am one of the founders of Allegiance to Children LLC, a foster care agency that my business partner Carrie Pryor and I launched in 2025 with the mission of providing safe, nurturing, and faith grounded homes for children in need.
I am also a licensed realtor and the team lead of Carouthers Investment Group, where I work with families and investors to create stability and long term wealth through real estate. What makes my work unique is that everything I build is rooted in purpose. Whether I am advocating for children, supporting families, or guiding clients through major life decisions, my focus is on creating lasting impact, not just short term results.
At this stage of my journey, I am focused on growing mission driven businesses that serve people well, strengthen communities, and reflect my faith through action.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother and my grandmother taught me the most about work. They showed me that work is not just about earning a living but about responsibility, consistency, and service. I watched them work hard, care for others, and keep their word even when it was difficult. From them, I learned the value of showing up every day, doing things with integrity, and understanding that real work is often quiet and unseen. Those lessons continue to guide how I lead, build, and serve today.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it was shaping my purpose. Growing up with dyslexia and struggling with ADHD and anxiety meant I had to work harder and learn differently. For a long time, I saw that as something to overcome quietly. Over time, I recognized that those challenges gave me resilience, empathy, and determination. Instead of hiding them, I began using my experiences to fuel my work, advocate for others, and lead with compassion. What once felt like a weakness became a source of strength and clarity.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Smart people often get it wrong by talking too much and not listening enough. Knowledge without humility can create distance instead of understanding. Real insight comes from listening closely, seeking to understand different perspectives, and being willing to learn rather than just be heard.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand deeply that compassion is not weakness. It requires strength, patience, and intentionality. True compassion means meeting people where they are, listening without judgment, and choosing grace even when it is uncomfortable. When practiced consistently, compassion has the power to heal, restore dignity, and create lasting change in ways that force and authority never can.
