We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mavi Rodriguez. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Mavi, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Most mornings start with mom duty — waking my kids up, getting them ready, and making sure everyone’s out the door for school. Once I get back home, I take a little time for myself. I usually squeeze in a quick workout, have breakfast, and set my mindset for the day. By 9 a.m., I’m in work mode and the creative energy kicks in.
My days are a blend of structure and spontaneity — one moment I’m producing podcasts for plastic surgeons, the next I’m coaching women one-on-one through their surgery journey or checking in on Bruise Juice, my recovery product line. Every day feels different, but it all ties back to the same mission: helping women feel confident, cared for, and fully themselves.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mavi Rodriguez, and I’m the founder and host of Big Butts No Lies, a podcast dedicated to helping women make confident, informed decisions about plastic surgery. What started as a space to have real, unfiltered conversations about surgery has grown into something much bigger — a full ecosystem built around empowerment, education, and transformation.
Through my one-on-one plastic surgery consulting, I guide women step-by-step through their surgery journey — from choosing the right surgeon to recovery and beyond. I also run BBNL Media, a podcast production company that helps surgeons and beauty industry professionals launch and grow their own shows. And most recently, I’ve been building The Recovery Haven, a luxury post-op retreat for women to recover in peace, comfort, and confidence.
What makes my work unique is that it’s deeply personal. I’ve been through this journey myself, and I know how emotional it can be. My mission is to create experiences — whether through a podcast, a product, or a private coaching session — that help women feel supported, educated, and beautiful inside and out.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, my parents. They both came to this country with nothing and built a life from pure grit and faith. Watching them work hard — not just to survive but to give us opportunities — shaped the way I approach everything. My mom taught me resilience and how to stay graceful under pressure, and my dad taught me that no job is too small if it gets you closer to your goals.
That mindset still drives me today. Whether I’m producing a podcast for a surgeon, coaching a client through her surgery, or running my business, I carry that same work ethic they showed me — show up, give your best, and keep going, even when it’s hard.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My divorce was one of the most defining moments of my life. It broke me open in ways I never expected, but it also became the start of my healing and transformation. Walking through that chapter forced me to rebuild my sense of self — not as a wife or a partner, but as a woman rediscovering her own power, beauty, and purpose.
Healing didn’t happen overnight. It came through self-work, therapy, faith, and creating a new relationship with myself. I learned to stop chasing external validation and to start honoring the woman I was becoming. That experience gave me the empathy and strength I now bring into my work — helping other women reclaim their confidence and rise after their own life-changing moments.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — what you see is truly me, just a more polished version. The energy, the passion, the confidence… it’s all real. But like every woman, I have quieter moments, vulnerable days, and times when I’m still figuring things out.
I’ve built my brand around honesty and transparency, so I never want to be someone who looks perfect but feels empty. The woman people see online or hear on my podcast is the same woman who’s in sweatpants running around with her kids or sitting in silence journaling about her next big idea. I believe the real power comes from being both — grounded and glamorous, strong and soft.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I helped women believe in themselves again. That I reminded them they were worthy of the life they dreamed of — in their bodies, in their confidence, and in their purpose. I want my story to be one of courage — of a woman who turned her pain into something beautiful and used her voice to lift others up.
I hope they remember me as someone who built spaces for women to heal, to be seen, and to feel safe becoming the best version of themselves. Whether it was through my podcast, my coaching, or my recovery haven, I want people to feel like I poured love, truth, and empowerment into everything I touched.
At the end of it all, I just want the story of my life to say: she helped women become the women of their dreams.
