Minor Bowens shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Minor, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m walking a path — but it’s one I built myself. Most wander because they inherited someone else’s map. I had to blueprint my own system: BOSX. Every step I take is backed by intention, biomechanics, data, and a vision to evolve human performance. I’m not guessing. I’m not reacting. I’m engineering. From the outside, it might look like I’m just training people …. but what’s really happening is a mission that’s bigger than reps, weight loss, or hype. I’m walking the path of the Architect — and every move is calculated.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Minor Christopher Bowens, and I’m the founder of Bowens Human Performance — a high-performance ecosystem built on a system called BOSX (Bowens Operating System Expansion). I’m not a traditional trainer. I’m what I call a Human Optimization Specialist — someone who merges science, biomechanics, and energy to help high-performers become sovereign in both body and mind.
BOSX was born out of necessity. After years in the performance world — and living through both injury and burnout — I realized the typical fitness industry wasn’t built to create real, lasting transformation. It was fragmented. It was loud. It was focused on aesthetics over alignment. I needed a deeper framework, one that treated the human body like a system — not a machine to burn out, but a field to tune. That’s where BOSX came in. It’s not a workout plan. It’s a diagnostic and performance protocol built for the new era — designed to restore structural alignment, elevate nervous system function, and turn everyday people into elite-caliber beings.
Right now, BOSX is running in Houston with a small but growing community of high-performers, athletes, and everyday leaders looking to transform from the inside out. Our programs — from Clean Burn Reset to the Elite Athlete Project — aren’t about hype. They’re about execution, measurable results, and proving the power of alignment. What I’m most proud of is that we’re creating something that feels inevitable. The world is shifting. People are tired of being sold surface-level fixes. They want systems. They want truth. And we’re delivering that — quietly, precisely, and at a very high level.
I didn’t create this brand for social media. This is a movement I built in solitude. I believe performance isn’t just how fast you run or how much you lift — it’s how you move, think, recover, and lead. BOSX is here to redefine what human performance actually looks like in the modern age.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The first person who ever taught me about work was my father. Before I ever stepped into a gym or led a training session, I was out in the yard — trimming crepe myrtles, dragging brush, and cutting acres of grass after football practice. My dad didn’t just assign chores — he created missions. Each one demanded that I improvise, adapt, and overcome. Whether the mower broke, the hedge trimmer jammed, or the Texas heat hit 100 degrees, quitting was never an option. You finished what you started. Period.
My mom added another layer to that foundation — she was the one who taught me to show up early, serve others, and take pride in a job well done, even when no one was watching. I remember us waking up early on weekends to do yard work for family friends — not for money, but because it mattered to contribute and do it with excellence.
Looking back, those moments shaped everything I stand for today. The BOSX system I’ve built isn’t just about performance or aesthetics — it’s about integrity, self-leadership, and execution under pressure. The same way I had to problem-solve in the yard, I now solve deeper problems in people’s bodies, energy systems, and lives.
The foundation was built long before the business — in sweat, in silence, and in service. And I carry that with me in every rep, every session, and every decision I make.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
What you mean?!
Have you ever been blackballed from an industry off a lie?
Had your name dragged through the mud while people whispered behind your back — not even knowing the courts dismissed everything?
Gone from coaching in front of 100,000 people to rebuilding from scratch in silence?
That’s not a low moment — that’s war. And yes, there were nights I thought about quitting. Nights I thought maybe this wasn’t worth it. But giving up? Nah. Never fully.
See, when you’ve got hundreds of athletes who’ve looked you in the eye and trusted you with their dreams — quitting isn’t just a personal decision. It becomes spiritual. You’re not just letting yourself down… you’re sending a message to every kid who watched you push them, pull them, and pour into them that your belief in them was conditional. I couldn’t do that.
You know how humbling it is to have Olympic-level credentials, but still have to prove yourself every day to people with half your education and a quarter of your experience — just because of gossip? To stay in elite shape not for vanity, but because you know in today’s world people don’t believe your words unless you wear the results on your body?
I’ve been there.
I am there.
Every dollar I’ve earned has gone into keeping this mission alive — into BOSX. Not because I had investors or a trust fund. But because I had to survive. I had to build a system not out of luxury, but out of necessity. BOSX wasn’t born in a lab. It was born in the ashes of my career. I had to optimize myself first before I could talk optimization to anyone else. I had to become Athlete 0 — the first client after the chaos. The first test subject of the BOSX system.
So yeah, I’ve thought about giving up.
But what would that make me?
If I preach growth mindset, personal sovereignty, and elite human performance — but cave the second my name got hit with lies? That’s not real leadership. That’s branding. And this ain’t a brand. This is a battlefield. And on this battlefield, every rep counts.
This isn’t personal training by any means. This is transformation by fire.
And fire never scared me. It refined me.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
To be honest, I can’t answer that question the way most people would — because most of my best friends have passed on. About 98% of them. And what’s even more surreal is that much of that loss came after the fiasco in 2019.
So when people ask me who I lean on, or what motivates me, I don’t really name names. What I hold on to is what those brothers stood for. What they instilled in me. Because they were the ones who taught me the code: never fool yourself, be the man you say you are, and keep it real at all times. We grinded together. We dreamed together. And even though they’re not here physically, they’re still with me — every day.
Their memory fuels my execution. I carry their voices in my head like a war drum when I train, when I build, when I fight for this vision.
And that vision isn’t small. I know for a fact I have something the world has never seen. It’s already been proven on the global stage. I’ve coached athletes who made it to the highest levels of sport — but now I’m turning that same system inward, building something that transforms anyone who steps into it.
That’s what gets me out of bed in the morning.
Not just business. Not just BOSX.
But honoring the ones I lost by becoming everything we said we would be.
Because if I give up on this — I’m giving up on them.
And that’s not something I’ll ever do.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When have you had to bet the company?
Honestly, every day has been a bet. But if I had to choose one moment, it would be the decision to go all-in on BOSX right after everything collapsed in 2019.
I had just taken a public hit — career-wise, financially, and emotionally. I lost my positions, my network, and my reputation in certain circles, not because I wasn’t qualified, but because of a lie that took on a life of its own. Everything I had built up to that point could’ve been chalked up as “over.”
But instead of folding, I went silent, studied harder, trained harder, and built a new operating system from scratch — one that didn’t depend on anyone else’s permission to exist. BOSX became more than a business. It became the bet.
I poured every dollar I had into this. Every ounce of energy. No investors. No shortcuts. Just survival, discipline, and a system I knew could outperform anything else out there — because I had tested it on myself first. I was the first athlete. The first transformation. The first client.
And when the moment came to present it again — in a new city, with a new face, and no institutional backing — I didn’t hesitate. I bet the company on truth. On proof. On alignment over attention.
That bet is still playing out — but the momentum now is undeniable. BOSX is growing. The vision is clear. And I know I made the right call.
Because I didn’t just bet the company.
I bet on myself.
And I’m still all in.
