We recently had the chance to connect with Mrs. Kimberly Watson and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Kimberly, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from the people around me. Every person brings a different energy, story, and lesson, while not everyone will be my flavor, that diversity is what makes life rich. There’s always something to learn if I stay open.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kimberly Watson, and I’m a professional photographer. My work in both fields is centered on one thing: people. At BARC, I have the privilege of helping individuals with disabilities learn, grow, and live independently. Through photography, I get to celebrate those same qualities, capturing real moments of strength, beauty, and individuality. What makes both paths special is the ability to see potential everywhere in people, in communities, and in the simple, powerful stories that connect us all.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that constantly feels the need to prove myself has served its purpose and is ready to be released. It pushed me to work hard and achieve, but now I’m learning that confidence and peace come from knowing my worth, not proving it.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it wasn’t something to be ashamed of; it was proof that I’d overcome. The moment I began speaking my truth instead of suppressing it, my pain transformed into purpose. It became the fuel behind my drive to help others find their strength, too.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One truth that’s foundational in my life is that everything happens for a reason, even the hard seasons. I’ve learned that growth often hides inside discomfort, and that faith, patience, and grace can carry you through almost anything. I don’t always say it out loud, but I live by it every day.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe they’d miss the personal connection the way I encourage and remind people that their work and their story matter. I’ve always tried to make people feel seen and valued, whether they’re a client, a partner, or a staff member.
