We’re looking forward to introducing you to Olga Miliuta. Check out our conversation below.
Olga, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I might lose track of time only when I’m working with my students or rehearsing for an upcoming concert. The best part is when my little ones say at the end of a lesson, “Didn’t we just start? Why are we finishing already?” That’s when I know my lessons are fun—because we’re all losing track of time.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Olga Miliuta, and I am the owner as well as the piano and voice instructor at Belcanto Music School. I am an opera singer, concert performer, and pianist.
At Belcanto, we offer a variety of programs, including music education, music therapy, stage speech, and music theory and history. We work exclusively one-on-one with each student, with no age limits at this time.
I am not only dedicated to developing my students’ musical skills, but also to helping them achieve success—whether that’s performing at music festivals, participating in competitions, or showcasing their talents not only in the United States, but also across Europe.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I have always felt powerful, even during my childhood, which was an amazing time in my life. I can truly say I have never felt powerless. I believe the spirit of music gives strength—not only to me, my business, and our students—but also to many others, helping them face and overcome life’s battles.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The time I almost gave up my music career was during the COVID lockdown. Those were very difficult years for all teachers and performers because we had no opportunity to provide music education or hold concerts. I was working in a completely different job and came very close to quitting music altogether.
I continued teaching part-time and tried to offer online concerts, but people were very scared at that time. I had many doubts about how to continue my music journey. Then I decided to trust the situation and keep going, believing that if it was meant to be, it would be.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Who I am in public is exactly who I am with my friends and family—authentic, open, and true to myself. I believe there is no reason to wear a mask in life, especially when your purpose is to bring joy, beauty, and happiness to others. When we live honestly, our light shines brighter, and the world feels it.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
want people to speak well of me—that’s important. What matters most is the legacy you leave behind. I hope to be remembered as someone who always stood by my students and friends, believing in them even more than they sometimes believed in themselves.
I’ve seen my students struggle with deep doubts, and in those moments, I do everything I can to help them succeed and prove to them that they are capable. I’m proud to say that, together, we have achieved great success.
