Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Radha Tamerisa MD, MBA of Katy

Radha Tamerisa MD, MBA shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Radha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
While intelligence and energy are important, integrity is the foundation of everything I do. As a physician and practice owner, people place their trust in me—not just to make smart decisions or work hard, but to act with honesty and do what’s right, even when it’s difficult. Whether I’m caring for a patient, mentoring a team member, or building something new in my practice, I always come back to integrity. It’s what earns trust, builds long-term relationships, and creates a culture where people feel safe, respected, and inspired.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Dr. Radha Tamerisa, a board-certified gastroenterologist, entrepreneur, and founder of Katy Integrative Gastroenterology in Katy, Texas. I’ve been in private practice for over two decades, and what sets my work apart is our deeply personalized, integrative approach to digestive health. We combine cutting-edge, evidence-based care with a focus on lifestyle, prevention, and long-term wellness—because I believe healing is not just about treating symptoms but truly understanding each individual.

I’m also the founder of several healthcare ventures, including a wellness and metabolic institute focused on hormone health, precision medicine, and innovative weight management strategies. In addition, I lead a clinical research division, allowing our practice to offer patients access to emerging therapies and contribute to the advancement of GI medicine.

Beyond the clinic, I’m deeply passionate about mentorship and physician leadership. I co-founded Women Physician Entrepreneurs of Houston and actively support physicians—especially women—interested in private practice or healthcare innovation. Recently, our practice was honored with an award for Best GI Practice in Katy, and I’m excited about what’s ahead as we grow with a focus on impact, collaboration, and community.

At the core of everything I do is a belief in integrity, service, and building spaces—both clinical and entrepreneurial—where people feel empowered to take charge of their health and their future.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents. My mom was a stay-at-home mother who poured all her energy into shaping me into a kind, grounded, and driven person. She led by example—quietly, consistently, and always with love. My dad was vocal about his vision: he wanted his daughters to be strong, self-sufficient, and never feel they had to depend on anyone for their success.

Together, they instilled in me a deep sense of purpose, integrity, and resilience. Because of them, I believed I could do anything—and that belief became the foundation for everything I’ve built in medicine, business, and leadership.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Have confidence in your resilience. There will be challenges that test your limits, moments of uncertainty, and seasons of self-doubt—but you will move through them with strength and purpose. Trust that every experience is shaping you into the leader, healer, and woman you are meant to become. Stay grounded in your values, and never underestimate the quiet power of perseverance. You are capable of far more than you realize.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say I’m the one who loves hard, laughs loud, and doesn’t forget when someone crosses the line! I care deeply about the people in my life and go all in when it comes to love, friendship, and loyalty. I take my work seriously, but not myself—I’m known for finding humor even in the chaos. And yes, I might hold a grudge here and there—but only when it’s well-deserved!

At the end of the day, I lead with heart. Whether it’s in medicine, business, or friendship, I believe in being real, showing up fully, and protecting the spaces and people that matter most.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My patients would probably miss the connection—the way I take time to truly listen, offer comfort, and treat them as whole people, not just medical cases. They often tell me they feel heard, supported, and understood, and that’s something I’ve always taken pride in.

And my team? They’d definitely miss the energy—and probably all the wild ideas I come up with! Whether it’s a new venture, a creative way to solve a problem, or a complete reimagining of how we deliver care, I’m always thinking ahead. They’d miss the vision, the passion, and maybe even the chaos that comes with dreaming big.
