Rob Ramos shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Rob, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I was asked to speak at a conference in Washington DC on mental illness. I felt so proud of myself for participating in the conference.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a freelance artist and I use my art as a platform to bring more awareness to mental illness. It is my goal to give a glimpse into my battles with schizoaffective disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Painting has been a game changer for me. Doing art was originally a form of therapy for me; however it has blossomed into so much more. Ive been in a gallery, several magazines, and was given the opportunity to create a book cover for an author friend of mine.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I would have to say my aunt was the person who helped me see my potential. She was always there for me;especially when my illness turned ugly. To this day I carry her wisdom and try to be a more giving person.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear of success has held me back in life; however, im starting to face fear and push through it. Ever since I was young fear has tried to control me. But not anymore!!!! I chose to stand up to the bully named fear.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My faith. I firmly belive that Jesus is my savior, and I am called upon to love others as myself.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most peace when I am painting. I get lost in the painting and am at peace. I call it my prayer time.
