Today we’d like to introduce you to Apryl Schlueter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Apryl. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Work-life balance has always been a struggle for me. As an ambitious professional, I wanted to find success in my career, but wanted to also enjoy the fun things in life: starting a family, traveling the world, and enjoying unique experiences. I navigated through a series of career paths, including engineering/IT, teaching, and finance/operations, until I hit a burnout point in my life resulting in some significant health issues due to a hectic and chaotic lifestyle. I felt that I had very little energy, and was a big complainer. It took a visible representation of the stress I was enduring to change the way I look at life and show up in the world. I initially created The Cheerful Mind as a personal journey of transformation, to start focusing on the things that matter, while still experiencing success. The journey led me to start a business that helps busy professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs, make the most of their time and commit to a lifestyle that prioritizes happiness, accomplishment, and fun. Over 3 years later, I’ve helped hundreds of people “have more fun while getting stuff done!’
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road – having to face the many limiting beliefs about my capabilities and finding the confidence to speak my truth and being my authentic self has been scary. But I have realized that you can’t truly love life if you don’t love yourself. One of my biggest missions in life is to show people the magnificence they exhibit but may not see (this can be a result of negative self-talk, perfectionism, etc.), and help them confidently shine that bright light in the world. My advice for any woman reading this is that you ARE enough. All the love and success you desire starts with your ability to love yourself.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Cheerful Mind – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My versatility in multiple areas has led me to a career to provide coaching and mentorship to those who want to continually improve their overall quality of life. While my expertise centers around positive mindset, communication, and productivity, I work to support people with the tools to succeed in their personal (relationship, family, passion/fun, health and well-being) and professional goals (career/business, money). Many of my clients main goals are in one of two camps: one being focused on building a passion-based business, while others are focused on having better work-life balance, and effectively juggling their busy lives with minimal stress. Although I am a certified coach, my approach is slightly different than what you may expect from other life coaches. I bring a cheerful “cheerleader” attitude that is grounded with an engineering and logical mindset. I focus on helping implement strategies that are not cookie-cutter; as I acknowledge that everyone is unique and different. I empower people to be the best, AUTHENTIC versions of themselves.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think the biggest opportunity that our society has is being able to shift the paradigm for success. More and more people are prioritizing quality of life and are not tolerating inadequate working conditions that fuel this hectic and rushed lifestyle that surrounds us. I think the biggest opportunity women have is to continue to break down the stereotypes that label who we should be as women. Our possibilities are limitless, and we should NEVER allow anyone to tell us otherwise!
