Today we’d like to introduce you to Celia Ramirez.
Celia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved from Oxnard, CA to Houston going on five years. While being in the medical field before moving, I had a wonderful job working in the Emergency Room for the County. When my husband convinced me to move, without my family, I decided to pick a hobby.
I’ve always admired decorative sweets, chocolate covered treats, gourmet apples, and thought to myself I can do this! Tried my first caramel apple in 2014 and I was hooked. I didn’t push my product out too much. I was a beginner and had much to learn.
Caramelappledip came about on Instagram and enjoyed posting my creations. The love of sweet treat making took off, Jazzy’s Gourmet Apples “sweet perfection” was born on October 18, 2017. My official name that I take much pride for named after my 1st daughter Jaslene. We all call her “Jazzy” and named my little business after her.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Being a mom of three little ones, 9, 6, 3, a full-time caregiver to my husband. Being a 1 woman show to my little business has its obstacles. I must make sure my family is taken care of before anything can be started.
Being an entrepreneur and having the capability to set your own hours, and being your own “Girl Boss” has its challenges. Sleepless nights, time planning, making sure what needs to be done gets done. There is pressure you put on yourself to make sure everything is perfect.
Advice I can provide is to have fun, be creative, and enjoy bringing happiness to your customers, and exceed their expectations.
Please tell us about Jazzy’s Gourmet Apples.
Jazzy’s Gourmet Apples specialized in hand-crafted homemade caramel apples and candy apples. I hand paint every edible detail and individually place every sprinkle that adorns my apples. Candy apples are always a huge hit, that ranges in different colors that provide a unique treat to any occasion.
I also provide custom chocolate dipped treats, that range from chocolate covered Oreos, marshmallow pops, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels and more! In my journey of doing treats. I have learned so much, and so proud of how much I have accomplished, and very thankful and blessed for the customers that have given me a chance for them to experience my sweet world Jazzy’s Gourmet Apples.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Enjoy what you’re doing, and importantly never give up! There are many people that would want to see you struggle if they’re in the same industry as you. But the greatest gift is to keep going and shine.
