Today we’d like to introduce you to Dania Sugey.
Dania, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a social media influencer, freelance marketing & personal assistant. I like to call my myself “a Juanita of all Trades”. I started doing social media when I interned for a Houston based blogger. While interning, I learned a couple of tricks about social media and how to engage with an audience. I also learned to love social media and how useful it can be. I started to partner up with small business in order to help them grow & gain customers through the power of it. I’ve also started my own personal assistant business that caters to Houston’s Elite & Sports athletes.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, I think everyone deals with some bump & I’m proud to admit it. In the beginning, I jumped right into it without having a plan and just went with the flow. That was one of my biggest mistakes. Through the process I learned how to plan out what I’m doing and determine what the next step will be before I continue. I also learned not to doubt myself and listen to those who say you can’t do it. If you have a dream, go for it, just make sure you’re ready for what’s about to come. Failure doesn’t mean you fail, it just means to try again, tweak it a bit and find ways that work for you and your dream. But whatever you do, never give up and doubt yourself.
Please tell us about your work.
I’m an influencer on the side but what pays my bills and keeps me going is being a personal assistant. I enjoy helping others when they have their hands tied up. It’s a way for them to stay organized. I work as a full-time PA, Mon-Friday and on the weekends, I cater to Sports Athletes making sure they have everything they need before a game. (Getting the family morning schedules ready and post-game family events). On top of that, I do freelance marketing, I approach new small businesses and help them grow through social media. I curate events for them and bring in bloggers to help them grow. While doing all this I’m also a Proud Rodeo Houston Volunteer & currently helping with Latin Restaurant Weeks Houston. Like I said I’m a Juanita of all trades.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Go for what you believe in, just make sure you go in with a plan. Don’t let others put you done and tell you it’s impossible. Just because a rock was thrown at you, doesn’t mean you should give up. Keep fighting for what you believe in and don’t let anyone stop your shine because trust me, it’ll be worth it at the end. Most importantly make time for yourself and schedule mental breaks.
