Life and Work with Genesis Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Genesis Evans.

Genesis Evans, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but have resided in Houston since 2005. 22 years old and graduated from Scarborough High School.

During her high school career, she was in cheerleading, athletics, volleyball and dance teams. Her maternal and paternal grandparents are from Honduras, originally from the Garifuna communities of Triunfo de la Cruz and Sante Fe, therefore, she is a Garifuna woman.

Although she was born in the United States, Genesis can write, read and speak in Spanish and Genesis consider that regardless of where she was born, the roots go beyond the city where you were born. Genesis is currently studying education. After that, she will seek a pre-degree and mastery to achieve the dream of becoming a High School Principal.

Genesis planned to start a non-profit organization to work with adolescent girls considering the challenges that as women we see in the obligation to transfer to achieve our dreams. Genesis have lived through these challenges at many stages of life, among them the one to compete in contests. For that matter, in 2016, Genesis won the Miss Honduras Houston contest, and although many see or perceive beauty contests as a simple competition of who is prettier, or contests that do not require intelligence, I believe the requirements today They go beyond what is seen with the naked eye, and as women we must take advantage of every space to transmit, educate and reach many women who do not have access to those spaces. For an Afro-descendant woman to be on stage, it is imperative to exalt the black woman, regardless of the area in which she develops. Thanks to the title of Miss Honduras Houston, I traveled to Guatemala in October 2017 and represented my Country Honduras, where I managed to conquer the “Miss Teen Tourism Model Universe” crown. 2018 Genesis traveled to Singapore where she won the title ” Miss Good Will. Shortly after the then became the director for Miss International Houston where she took the winner to Costa Rica to compete as well as New York for fashion week.”

Genesis as recently launched her own modeling agency named ” Genesis Modeling Agency ” where she focuses on catwalk, posing, health and nutrition and help them navigate through social media and networking of today’s world. During this training, the models will also be given the opportunity to model during New York Fashion week and internationally just like there founder Genesis Did.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not been the smoothest. Simply because in my case, I work a lot in the Latino field due to the fact that my parents are Hispanic/Latinos. Sometimes, I have felt like I didn’t fit in. Over time, I’ve learned that I’m one of kind to be able to fit in both the American world as well as Latina.

My advice to young women is “Remember the rose still grow on concrete.”

Please tell us about Genesis Modeling Agency.
I have a Modeling Agency called ” Genesis Modeling Agency ” which provides young women and men the proper training for the modeling world at an affordable price. We focus on catwalk, photo posing, how to navigate the modeling world (casting calls, go see, etc.).

Once I graduated from the agency, we will pick the top three to walk in New York Fashion Week.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
The storm will always pass – never give up.
