Today we’d like to introduce you to Kameron Wells.
Kameron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My Story
For years, I have battled with my weight. Growing up being known as “Big Kam” was who I thought I was going to be until one day I didn’t like what was looking back at me. I remember my mother and grandma putting me in weight watchers and also making bets with me to lose weight because they have seen how depressed I was, only for me to do so good for a while but then would fall off because it would get too hard or it wasn’t coming off fast enough. That went on for years. Years of yo-yo diets did nothing but break my spirit even more because I felt I was only doing it to please everyone else (family, friends and partners) except for myself. I was always looking for the easy way out- magic pills, drinks but those only made my depression grow 10x stronger. After years of always failing and getting up to over 550lbs – I knew my life would end soon if I kept going down the same road. Wanting to live and get out of my morbidly obese body I knew I had to change. So, I sat down and did my own research on the best foods to eat to help target my trouble areas, help boost my metabolism and also provide a natural boost of energy. Once I had everything to be successful, I created my own meal plans and workout regiments that suited my body type. From that point on, I have won back my life from this horrible addiction and have lost over 150lbs naturally and maintaining my loss by being disciplined and sticking to the foods that will help me live a longer more healthier life.
Has it been a smooth road?
This has been nowhere near a smooth ride. The biggest thing was having that support system and motivation to keep going. I know that sounds crazy but with an addiction, you need to be surrounded by people that are routing for you and want you to reach your goals. I personally and physically didn’t have anyone that supported my goals as much as me and that’s when I created a YouTube and also an Instagram page dedicated to my weight loss. I had several struggles but my biggest one was losing myself in fear of losing myself. It’s so easy to give up but the biggest fight is to keep going when you feel like quitting. Keep fighting when you feel you have no fight left. If you want something, you work for it no matter how hard things may be at that moment because you never know who is looking to you for the courage to keep going. Always remember this isn’t a race and understand that every BODY type is different, some lose weight quicker and others don’t. Your only competition should be the person you were yesterday.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with FatGirlFightBack – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I make my own meal plans and workout regiments. I came up with meals that I love but I knew they were no longer going to be apart of my life anymore. I told myself that if I’m in this for the long run I will have to enjoy it and for a year now I have done just that. Created meals that are 10x healthier for you, that not only taste divine but it’s gives you the best boost of natural energy the body needs to go on. I have also made several workout videos that’s tailored for my body. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t compete with anyone else that’s on this journey, I follow the beat of my own drum and so far that has kept me focused and very successful.
Who have you been inspired by?
My mother- has always been a huge inspiration. From her being over 300lbs and now being right at 200lbs (she is 6”2). Watching her lose weight naturally over the years and to maintain it always kept me going and lit the flame in me to see that my 50-year-old mother is stronger and healthier than me-she keeps me going.
Monique (the comedian)- taught me to love myself at any size because you could be idealizing someone that is smaller than you but they are idealizing you for your confidence.
There is a long list of women who have inspired me over the years but the two above are who kept me going when I was in doubt with myself.
