Life and Work with Nicole Handy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Handy.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Back in 2012, I purchased my first investment home, but I honestly had no clue of what I was doing. Luckily, I had a good Realtor that helped me tremendously, That experience made me gain the confidence to take on buying and selling my own properties. So, with that, I told my Grandma that I was interested in going to real estate school, and unbeknownst to me a few days later she sent me a check to cover my real estate school tuition and pushed me to get a license. I’ve been a licensed Texas Realtor ever since. I graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a chemical engineering degree. For many years, I sold real estate part-time while holding down a full-time corporate job, but over the years I became bored with the monotony of my full-time job. Through hard work, determination, and a whole lot of prayer, I transitioned into real estate full time. My family is everything to me, and I’ve built my business on the exact same principals that my grandparents used to run their thriving businesses for over 40 years. I’m passionate about helping people achieve their Real Estate goals, which forces me to continuously study and grow in my craft. I believe that Realtors should not only sell property but own property, so in 2017, my husband and I actively started investing in real estate. Real estate will forever be my passion. I’m not only eager to work for my clients, but I’m also eager to work with my clients.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Juggling a demanding career and family life has not always been easy. It has taken a lot of discipline. The real estate industry is competitive here in Houston, so at times, I feel I’ve struggled with setting myself apart. I’ve learned the best way to do that is just to authentically be myself. Everyone won’t connect with me, and that’s quite okay, but the people that do connect with me, connect with the real me. My advice for those that are just starting their journey is to never let fear or doubt stop you from pursuing your dreams. Fail hard and fail often. Failure isn’t defeat, it’s actually the best life coach anyone can have.

Who have you been inspired by?
My grandmother is my inspiration. Growing up she instilled in us the value of a strong work ethic and the importance of a loving family dynamic.
