Today we’d like to introduce you to Omega George.
Hi Omega, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I attended Alabama State University (ASU) and obtained a dual communications Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry & Recording Technology. While attending ASU, I interned and became the Events Operator for the Gospel Music Association in Nashville, TN. Having played an integral part of assisting and executing the success of the Dove Awards during my tenure. Post GMA, I went on to become the Media & Booking Manager for Nettie’s Child Music & Management, LLC. There, I had the honor of integrating my expertise in new media and music to bolster and support the careers of dynamic Gospel artists like Maurette Brown Clark and Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy.
In 2014, I established Ruach Entertainment, a multi-service enterprise that provides consulting, advisement, talent development, management, and brand strategy. Under the auspices of Ruach Entertainment, I continued to oversee day to day operations of Nettie’s Child Management by developing creative content, securing and executing booking dates, procuring media placements, and providing social media strategy. It was through Nettie’s Child Management that I adapted and developed proficiency in the music entertainment field. Nettie’s Child Management attained notable sales and brand recognition success. Nettie’s Child Management artists have attained Top charting status and has garnered a myriad of national media appearances, further solidifying their viability in the market. and continues to be an invaluable part of the company’s success. In 2017, I joined the Urban Inspirational division of Entertainment One Music Nashville as Marketing Manager. Managing and developing the brands of artists that include: Deitrick Haddon, Jonathan McReynolds, Todd Dulaney, James Fortune, Pastor John P. Kee, Jabari Johnson, Jonathan Nelson, Tweet, Syleena Johnson, Q. Parker and more. In 2019, I was promoted to Director of Marketing, Label Relations and Strategic Partnerships. Personifying dexterity in marketing/promotions, artist management, artist development has afforded me to work with some of Gospel & Urban music’s top mainstream and independent artists.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, to say the least. However, I will say that it is absolutely rewarding. There have been moments that I have been uncertain, but never unaware regarding the impact of growth that comes from development. The nature of the music and entertainment business is fueled by creativity, community and competition. Every day is like a training day. Some days are easier than others. Conquering my own fears, studying beyond my own strengths and trusting my capacity are some of the greatest challenges.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of working with Entertainment One and Nettie’s Child, I travel quite extensively as a public speaker and preacher. Growing up in church and groomed for the purposes of leadership and ministry, I believe shaped me to do exactly what I’m doing today. I am most proud that while thriving in my career, ministry leads the way. When I’m not working at the office or from my home, it is all about those I’m assigned to mentor, train and cover.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Study every room you enter. Get to know the people, understand their story and simply be KIND! The ONE thing I WISH I would’ve known: Own your voice and all that comes with it.
